Hero Arts Blog

Hey there! Clare popping in today, with a pair of fun interactive birthday cards and a video. So, I super duper love the Snarky Mix & Match Messages stamp set, but there's one problem - there's too many funny sentiments! I know, best kind of problem to have. ;) I found a solution though, where you can use as many as you want - an...

Happy first day of Summer! One of my favorite things about summer is that all of my flower pots are in full bloom. I love the brights pops of color that line my front porch and wish they could last all year. But unfortunately living in Nebraska, that isn't a possibility. However, it is possible to create a card anytime of the year that reminds...

Good morning! Jess here with a bright and sparkly tropical card using the beautiful Beach Frame Fancy Die add-on from our June My Monthly Hero release! The die was super popular on release day and is already sold out but it WILL be restocked! I absolutely adore using Sparkle Embossing Powder over ink blended backgrounds. The sparkle really amps up the beautiful colors and gives...

Good morning! Emily here with you today to share a super feminine take on a llama. I love how these farm animals are getting a new lease on their design life with the new trends. Seems like if you add some flowers to a cute little farm animal, it's totally on trend! So, I tried my hand using our new Llama Stamp & Cut with...

There are two cards that I seem to always need - birthday and thank you cards. Because I'm always needing them, sometimes it's in a bit of time pinch, so I love having quick and easy designs on hand. For today's two quick cards, I used the Tree and Leaf Confetti Die as a stencil. For the first card, I die cut it simply out...

Hi stampers! Ilina here today with a fun card using minimal stamping. April is my birthday month, so making a birthday card was suiting. ;) For my card I decided to use the Fiesta Fringe Fancy Die along with the Decorative Edge Fancy Die. I die cut the fringe 6 times, 2 each from Pool, Sunshine and Midnight Layering Papers. Then I cut them in...

The Hero Arts line of Bold Prints cling stamps can be used in many different ways than just background images. One way to change up the look is to create a mask, then stamp the Bold Print image to eliminate a portion of the background. Today I've used the Floral Mandala Bold Prints to demonstrate this technique. I began the card by creating a watercolor...

Welcome back for another episode of the Color Layering with Yana video series! In each one of my monthly videos I explore different ink pad and embossing powder color options for Hero Arts Color Layering sets and will hopefully inspire you to stamp! In this video I am taking a closer look at the Color Layering Elephant set! Hero's recommended color combo for the Elephant...

I'm not a brave crafter when it comes to color. I like to keep my backgrounds almost exclusively white, and layer from there. However, I was so inspired by fellow creative team member Janette Kausen's stunning black die-cut background, that I just had to give it a more dramatic background. I die cut the background from Midnight Layering paper, and then backed it with a...

Today we're doing something a little different. We've asked two artists to use the same products, and put their own spin on them! Ilina and Libby both worked with the Every Which Way stencil and the Birthday Hugs and Kisses stamp set. Let's start with Ilina... Hi everyone, this is Ilina. Here's my take on the new Every Which Way stencil and Birthday Hugs and...

I've been having fun making shaker cards lately. Today I'm featuring the Seal Family stamp. I decided to do a bit of fussy cutting. I used Hero Arts Bold Ink - Aquatic Hybrid ink with the Abstract Waves Stencils on both the base and top panel. It goes horizontal on the base and vertical on the top panel. I filled my shaker with the new...

Hello there, Michelle here. I love stencils! They are really versatile. You can ink blend through them, spray through them and you can even use them to emboss. Which is what I am sharing with you today. I am sharing two clean and simple cards that show how adding embossing to the background, really brings the cards together. You can see in the video here,...

I hear a lot of people say that they struggle with making masculine cards. And I am right there with you! I am naturally drawn to more feminine colors and designs, so it takes some extra thought and planning to create a design that doesn't look too girly. So today I created a masculine birthday card that has a simple design that uses some basic...

Birthday cards are always fun to make and Hero's Birthday Animal Silhouettes stamp set makes it a very easy task! To create card I'm sharing in today's post I first stamped a yellow plaid background using the Picnic Blanket Bold Prints background stamp and Butter Bar ink pad onto a 4 x 5 1/4" cardstock panel and adhered it onto my A2 card base. Next,...

Hello there, Michelle here and today I have a card to share using the Zodiac Birthday stamp set which was released as an add-on for the August My Monthly Hero kit. I started off by taking a piece of paper from the Pool Mix Layering Papers collection and die cut this using the 5th largest die from the Rectangle Infinity Dies set. I then took...

Sometimes (okay, a lot of times!), you just need a card in a jiffy. For me, cards for guys are always the hardest to jiffy up, but the Enjoy the Journey stamp set makes it a cinch!

Good morning! Jess here with a slightly irreverent belated birthday card! I don’t know about you but I am horrible about remembering to send birthday cards on time…I think I stock more belated birthday cards than I do regular birthday cards because I realize most of the cards will go out late. Eeek. I always […]

Hello! Are you all having so much fun with the new Summer Catalog products?! Today I’m featuring the Scribble Bold Prints. I’ve teamed it up with the very cute, Eat Cake All Day Stamp & Cut. The scribbles remind me of confetti so they make a great background for a birthday card. I stamped it […]

Hello there, Michelle here. Today I have a card to share using the fabulous new Killer Messages stamp set. It is such a fun set that can be used for so many occasions but today, I kept it simple and created a fun birthday card. You can see how I made the card in the […]

There’s nothing quite like two for one. Two candy bars for the price of one, two donuts for the price of one, two…sorry, I really like my sugar. ;) I also like getting two cards for the effort of one! The “star” (ha, couldn’t help myself) of today’s card set is the Star Confetti Fancy […]

Someone is always having a birthday so you can never have too many birthday cards! I took Birthday Messages and went to the “other side”… I saw those long horizontal stamps and thought, wow, they would make great candles! So, I flipped them over on my block and started stamping them on the wrong side […]

Hello there, Michelle here and today I have card to share combining the Manatee Stamp & Cut with the Monster Birthday Stamp & Cut (available to purchase from the Hero Store on the 17th May), to create a masculine birthday card. That manatee is fabulous and I thought he would look great with a party […]

Happy Monday! It’s May here with an easy watercolor card featuring the French Treats stamp set. I started by drawing an oval frame using a die from the Nesting Oval Infinity Die Set on a piece of A2 size watercolor paper.  Then I stamped the sentiment from the Make a Wish Birthday stamp set inside the oval […]

If you have problems viewing the video please try watching it on YouTube! We recently released the Shopping Bag Fancy die as […]

Today I have quick and easy watercolor cards to share with you all – I went out of my comfort zone to create kind of messy(?) watercolor cards. ;) I used the same watercolor technique but stamped the image with a different ink. For my first card, I stamped the Mum Flower image with black waterproof ink on the […]

Hello there, Michelle here and today I have a card to share using the gorgeous Succulent Trio stamp set. I have always had a fondness for succulents and cacti, growing them since I was a child. They seem to be very popular now days and I love that! I started off my card by stamping […]

I’m not gonna lie people, I usually avoid using stencils. I’m not sure if it’s a of out-of-sight, out-of-mind thing, or the fact they just intimidate the heck out of me, or maybe a combination, but the fact stands – I don’t use stencils much. However, when I started playing around with the Busy As […]

Hello there, today I have two cards to share using Bold Prints backgrounds and the Watercolor Dot Palette for some emboss resist. I thought it would be fun to create one more masculine and one more feminine. The Watercolor Dot Palette has little dots of Daniel Smith watercolour paint added to it. I believe the […]

I often find that certain stamps I pass over quickly become one of my favorites to use. Such is the case with the Antique Bee and Flowers. I'm not sure if it's just that it's a woodblock stamp, and because I store mine in drawers, they end up being rather "out of sight, out of mind." In any case, when I did take it out...
