Contrasting Backgrounds

I'm not a brave crafter when it comes to color. I like to keep my backgrounds almost exclusively white, and layer from there. However, I was so inspired by fellow creative team member Janette Kausen's stunning black die-cut background, that I just had to give it a more dramatic background.

I die cut the background from Midnight Layering paper, and then backed it with a light pink Blush layering paper.

Because I was getting a tropical vibe after pairing the Papel Picado Confetti Die with a pink background, I had to use the Color Layering Hibiscus stamp set.

The flowers were stamped with Cotton Candy, Bubble Gum, Rose Madder, Soft Vanilla and Butter Bar. The centers are Mulled Wine, topped with clear Stickles.

The leaves are stamped in Lime Green, Moss and Field Greens. After stamping everything, I die cut them all with the coordinating dies and adhered them to the die cut card base.

I finished the card off with a sentiment from Birthday Hugs & Kisses stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with Black Sparkle embossing powder.

I hope this inspires you to stretch outside your comfort zone!

Thanks so much for stopping in and God bless!
