Happy Saturday! We're back with our third and final Favorites from the Vault giveaway opportunity!
During a recent warehouse cleaning session, we were happily surprised to find some hidden treasures -- a handful of past kit items. We gathered every last piece from a few select kits, and now you have a chance to win some SOLD OUT My Monthly Hero kit products!
We may have saved the best for last. You decide...
Who remembers the very FIRST My Monthly Hero kit? The month, October...the year, 2015. Who also remembers how quickly that kit sold out? (Back then, there were no My Monthly Hero subscriptions offered.) The beautiful color layered poinsettias came onto the scene and were a smashing hit right out of the gate -- so much so, that the kit sold out in just a few hours and our website experienced some hiccups due to the heavy traffic. We've learned and grown since then, but will never forget the excitement and joy of that very first kit. It holds a special place in our hearts as we now celebrate the MMH program's 5th anniversary with you.
As the ultimate throwback, today we have 5 sets of stamps and dies from the October 2015 kit to give away to 5 lucky winners!
TO ENTER: Comment on this blog post and let us know one piece of stamping wisdom that you wish you'd known when you started stamping! The entry deadline is Thursday, October 29 at 11:59pm PT. We will announce the 5 randomly chosen winners here on the blog.
Now we get to announce the winners from last weekend's Favorites from the Vault giveaway!
The 5 randomly chosen winners will each receive stamps and dies from the sold out October 2018 kit:
• Stephanie Benoit
• Julia Dvorak
• Mary Gilmer
• Tracy Kent
• Sandy Koca
Congratulations to all! Please send an email to info@heroarts.com to claim your prizes and include "Vault Winner" in the subject line.
Last but not least, we want to remind you that time is running out on our classic kits sale. When I started stamping (in the 80s!), I wish I would have known more about when to use which type of ink works best with which type of paper for my chosen technique.
I wish I would have known the types of inks and the specific use of them. I love Heroarts products. Thanks for the chance to win these lovely kit!!
This is a really cool kit, the one piece of stamping wisdom that I wish I would have known when I started stamping is that a stamping platform tool is a lot better and easier than the acrylic stamping block’s
I wish I would have gotten back into stamping a long time ago instead of a year ago. I am having so much fun and have even “met” some great stamping friends!
I wish I had known that pigment ink and ink on glossy paper need to be heat set
I wish I had known the great value and joy you get from buying quality stamps!
One of my favorite past kits 💕 all things Christmas! Oh how I wish I’d have gotten more familiar with all the tools and quality companies before buying so much of what I did. I do a lot more research first now.😁
I wish I would have heard of the MISTI when it first came out. That has been a total game changer by being able to stamp an image out multiple times without eye-balling it and potentially ruining your whole project.
Stamping wisdom that I wish I knew when I started…..would be how much easier it is to use clear stamps than the wood block rubber stamps. Of course it would have also been great to know how much it was going to be an addiction!! It has all been worth it though!
I wish I would have known how to compose a pretty card design. I’ve been stamping for over 25 years and just within the last 3 years learned how to compose pretty cards ❤️❤️I love Hero Arts! Thank you for the chance to win!
I wish I knew more about different types of inks, especially black ones and for what I can use them.
I’ve only been card making for about a year. I wish I’d bought my MSTI sooner. It was definitely a game changer for me. Also wish I’d knew how addictive (and expensive) :) this would be
One of the tricks I wish I had learned earlier is how to create and use a template that allows multiple stamping on die cuts. This trick allows you to create perfectly aligned cut outs in a fraction of the time. No need to align every stamped item!
I Wish i had the right paper from the start and definitely easier access to us products! Love the kit and thank you for the chance to win
What a pretty kit! I love the poinsettias and the colors!
I wish I’d invested in some really good quality organizational system pieces from the get-go, something I could have added to as I acquired more! :)
I am just starting out, but the wisdom I’ll give myself it to not buy everything at once… which is so hard because there are so many cute stamps and awesome tools out there!
I love MMH kits, and I can’t wait usually to find out would be the new kit!
I wish I had known about all the ways you can make background paper for yourself and have so much fun doing it, and trying all the fun new products available. I spent a lot of money on paper pads because I thought that’s what I would need the most. Turns out they just sit on the shelf collecting dust. I rarely use the pattern papers because my favorite part of card making is exploring all of the techniques. Thanks for your support and generosity you give all us crafters. 🙏 Debbie!
I wish I would have known how hard it is to get a perfect embossed sentiment onto black cardstock &/or how to be quick when embossing on vellum. :)
Thank you for this giveaway! Praying I win something for once in my life 😍🤞
I wish I had kept better track of all my stamp sets, names and manufacturer in a spreadsheet so I could keep better track of them. I have stamps that I have no idea who the manufacturer is.
I wish I knew more about inks and different quality of paper before hoarding.
have fun.
I wish that I had known that my favorite coloring mediums would be markers and water colors. I spent a lot of time trying a lot of mediums to find what fit me best.
I would have purchased a stamping platform sooner. I just got one a month or so ago and it has been a life saver!
I wish I had known and understood different types of inks and that the type of paper you use matters too! This is a beautiful kit! Thank you for the opportunity to win.
I wish I would have known about the different ink types and what products to use them on. I’ve discarded way too many to count of trials and failures before I learned more!
Thanks for all the fun inspiration and give-aways! I’d love to win this set – so pretty! I wish I would have been more adventurous about trying different ink colors. When I first started stamping, I only used black ink and then colored the imaged with chalks or colored pencils. I enjoyed it, but now it’s so fun to use different colored inks and also layering stamps!
How exciting! I wish I had known that it goes a lot easier to stamp the inkpad on the stamp vs stamping the stamp on the inkpad. Something so easy that made a difference for me when I was shown!
I wish I had known about stamp quality and paper quality. How much that matters. Also I wish I had known how much time I was going too loose having fun stamping. No regrets. Love the monthly package of creative joy.
Woof! Again and again I wish I had found Hero Arts sooner. There is a incredible amount of professional-grade instruction and tutorials available for the beginner and advanced alike. I cannot think of another industry with this kind of generosity of spirit. Truly amazing. Bonus? The chance to snag that suh-weet stamp set. Fa la la la LOVE those teeny Poinsettias. Stay fabu Hero Arts,ya’ll rule!
I wish I knew the MISTI would come out so I would have started purchasing the unmounted stamps sooner!
It is a beautiful kit. I have never purchased a kit and it would be awesome to win this hidden treasure! I wish I had known about the Tim Holtz Stamp Platform sooner. It has been a tremendous help when stamping.
I wish I had started organizing my stamps from the beginning. At the time I had no idea just how addictive it would be and how many stamps I would have…lol
Of course we did not have the luxury of stamp positioners back then, so there’s definitely that LOL Also, I wish I had known a little more about making good use of ink, embossing powders and embellishments! The My Monthly Hero kits are so perfect in that regard because everything in there is already curated for you. I love them! Thank you for the chance to win ❤️
I wish I had known the difference between good and bad stamps. Which ones would stamp better as opposed to just buying because of the price. Would have saved a lot of money, not getting the cheap ones that didn’t really work.
This kit is beautiful.!!! I wish I had known how to emboss when I first started cardmaking! I love to emboss now! Happy crafting everyone!
Thank you, Hero Arts team for such great kits and the opportunity to win this iconic set!
What a great kit to win just in time for holiday card making! Thanks for the opportunity!
I w
Ish I had known about the Misti!!
I wish I had know I would need a larger room to call my own, to keep all things crafty, find joy, and make crafty tokens of my love and appreciation.
I wish I had known the importance of organizing my stamps from the beginning of this adventure. I did not realize that I would love cardmaking as much as I do! Yet, with as many stamps as I have, I still do not have a poinsettia…and Christmas is almost here! Silly, right?
I wish I had known how much more beautifully alcohol markers worked on watercolor paper
I will be over the .on to win this kit!!
I wish I had known archival ink did not smear when using alcohol markers.
I wish I would have paced myself better.
I wish I had known how to prime new stamps before using.
Yeah, I learned the difference between pigment ink and dye ink the hard way (by smearing ink all over the folks on my Christmas list!). DO NOT use pigment ink on coated papers!
I wish I would have known that stamping would become a very addictive habit to break and an expensive one too! But I continue to stamp.
Wish I had understood that it is better to re-ink and stamp lightly again with sentiment stamps that press hard to get a good impression. I’ve “smooshed” lots of sentiments!
To be more creative with mistakes – innovating the use of mis-stamped images in different ways as well as various blending of tools and supplies to make something more individual. Trust in what I can do versus just seeing the examples given.
I really like your products and love that your dies are not attached to each other as I find it tedious to separate new dies. I’ve been card making for a long time and have had to learn a lot of different things. If I had known that not all embossing powders were created equal I could have saved myself a lot of grief and smudges. I am way more careful now about which ones I use and for what. Thicker powders are not good on fine detail stamps for example.
I love these gorgeous poinsettias! Glad to see there were sets hiding out & it would be awesome to win one of them! Thanks for the opportunity!
I wish I had realized all that color paper I could have saved all the scraps to make new cards.
I have been making cards for many years and things have progressed beyond belief.
I wish I had know how addicted I would be so I could have started a secret nest egg
to pay for my habit. Thank you!
Save those re-inkers even if the stamp pad is long gone!
Buy quality supplies, not quantity. A good cardstock can make all the difference.
My tip would be that you can emboss with dye ink by stamping in an embossing ink and then the dye ink.
I wish I knew more about blending backgrounds when I first started. Still need help with that now!
I wish I had known about the different t inks and papers. This makes a huge difference in card making. It takes a while to learn the impact that these 2 things make on cards!
I wish I had known, starting out, that kits were even out there. What a great way to acquire stamps, inks, paper and dies that all go together to make so many different kits, the second thing I wish, would have been to organize my stamps, so I know what I have by theme so I know what else I need to have birthday, sympathy and thank you cards. I am glad I know about Hero Arts monthly kits NOW.
the card making tip is using pencils (watercolor) to give another sample of card making with stamps
would love to win the giveaway. I love Christmas card making and this set is awesome! thanks
A couple things I wish I knew when I started was how important quality inks are. I was always so unhappy with my stamping until I tried some high quality inks and was much happier. I also learned that I need to be careful of inky fingertips. I still have a problem with that one.
I started stamping over 20 years ago and was not aware of all techniques to make art with stamps. I never experimented and wish I had learned to do so. The stamping industry has grown tremendously since I first started making my own cards and scrapbooking. I’m so grateful for the treasured stamps I have from Hero Arts and the classes you make available. I hope to never stop learning new ways to use your stamps. Thank you for providing quality products and classes.
Oh my… I wished I had know what inks, stamping platforms, tools and coloring mediums I could have gotten without buying them alllllll…..Every time I seen something new, I thought I needed it to do some of the same things the demonstrator did but I could have used what I had. I love buying the kits and I will always continue to do that.
Not to be too critical of my work. Enjoy what I have and continue to make and fulfill that wish list. Thanks for the chance to win your amazing products.
When I first start stamping I wished I had know that it would become my number one addiction! I have loved Hero Arts Monthly kits since I first found out about them and have manages to acquire at least a few pieces from every kit except for six of them. included in this list of six I don’t have anything from is the number one kit for October 2015, so you can only imagine how excited I am about this contest!
No matter what I happens, I always am overjoyed to receive my kit every month!
Thank you so much for creating them!
That’s such a pretty set! When I first started stamping, I wish I had known about stamp positioners. I had always gotten bad stamped images and it discouraged me from wanting to try stamping again.
I wish I had known about the correct ink pads to use for the different types of stamping. Once I finally took some classes my techniques definitely improved.
I wish I knew that there are no mistakes….. So many things thrown away. Now, I just remember that every project is a handmade original.
When I started stamping I wish I would have known how addicting this hobby is. I can’t even begin to imagine how much money I have invested. But, I’ve got to say that every penny is so worth it. I love stamping and the beautiful things I can create.
Less is more – I have learned the beauty of simplicity from watching the artistic creations of many of Hero Arts demonstrators and have been able to develop my own simple style
This would be such a great set to win! I wish I had known about the diversity of products available and really how to select the products that I truly love and would continue to use year after year. Too many stamps I bought that weren’t diverse enough, and some of them have still never even been used!
I’m still very new to crafting (about 2 months) with stamps and making cards I can still count on two hands the amount of “finished” cards, sealed & sent that I have made. What a world of difference it has been for me to use the misti. I’m still learning about colors, equal margins, and layering mats! The best advice I have received & trying to live by is: “have fun making & to not stress for perfection, it’s only paper and it has two sides!” :)
I like companies that get involved in the community and the world through charitable contributions. It’s great that 100% of the proceeds from the sales of
select products for the Charitable
Campaign.
I’ve been stamping since I was a kid back in the 80’s and I wish I’d known about clear stamps sooner! I didn’t “discover” them until about 8 years ago and they are so helpful! I enjoy being able to see exactly where my stamp is going and what it’ll look like.
Great giveaway! Wish I had known about all the different inks when I first started stamping.
I wish I had known about the different kinds of inks and how to use them. It would have made life back then a lot easier.
Who doesn’t love poinsettias? Every kit I have purchased from Hero Arts has always been a joy to see all the wonderful items enclosed and to use. They’ve made some great cards. I get my inspiration from all the wonderful blogs and videos that are put on your site. Thank you so much.
The card does not have to be perfect. The recipient will love it.
This kit is gorgeous!
I wish I had known about watercolor pens and how easy they are to use. I own a TON of markers, but use my watercolor pens a lot more.
I’m still learning, there are so many good tricks and tips on your site, I can’t pick just one.
When I first started out I was so worried about messing up that it took away some of the joy of crafting. Now I don’t sweat the mistakes, I can always find a way to hide them. The important thing is to have fun!
I simply wish that I knew about Hero Arts and all the wonderful help on you tube
Blending the inks to come up with beautiful background colors.
The one thing I wish I had known when I first started stamping is the difference between good quality stamps and the cheaper stamps. To look for stamps with matching dies (I hate to fussy cut them). Also the difference in which inks to use for which application. Lots of blurry smeared images.
I have been stamping since the early 1990s and wish I had shared my creations more with others. Finding my “style” took awhile but I am still enjoying making cards.
Oh my, I saw this and my heart went pitter-patter! I’m in love again. I thought I was done making cards, but this is adorable. Stamping is versatile, you can use ink, pens, pencils, watercolors, etc. When I started stamping the best advice was you can never make a mistake with stamping, layering does amazing things to cover up flaws.
I wish had known the different types of stamp inks were used for. Dye vs chalk vs pigment
I started stamping long before stamping platforms like the Misty were available. I wasn’t very good at it and found it very frustrating, so I rarely used my stamps. So I wish they had had such a platform, or I wish I had thought of it!
Wish I had understood color families. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what colors would look good together. :)
Making sure my fingers don’t have ink on them. I can’t tell you how many cards I ruined by not being aware of inky fingers! I now make sure I have a damp cloth handy to clean my hands regularly while I’m creating.
I wish I knew that sometimes imperfect stamping is perfect. I also wish I had known just addicting it can be.
Best tip I picked up after I’d been stamping for years was to put a sheet of craft foam down on my desk surface prior to stamping. It is particularly helpful with clear stamps , but helps get a crisper image on any kind of stamp.
More than 25 years ago, I jumped into crafting with very little knowledge of the industry or crafting as a whole and I wish I had researched more. However 2 years ago I discovered my true love is card making.
Awesome kit! Wish I had known which stamping inks went with watercolor and which went with alcohol markers. Too many smeared and streaked projects to count.
This is such a lovely kit! One piece of stamping wisdom I’ve learned to embrace is “it’s just paper”…..don’t be afraid to try new things and possibly make mistakes. You learn something along the way or possibly end up with a happy accident.
I wish I had known to take a picture of my card while figuring out a layout. I’ve a habit of just playing around with moving diecuts and layers until I get something I like, but in the beginning I would take all pieces off and start gluing from memory. It seems like such an obvious solution, but it was almost a year after I started cardmaking that I realized I could just take a picture with my phone and not have to deal with forgetting something!
Bit of wisdom – don’t be afraid to mess up – sometimes your mess-ups turn out really great in the end. And if it doesn’t you’ll know what not to do next time. Just have fun!
