Win a Sold Out Kit! Favorites from the Vault Giveaway #3

by Hero Arts October 24, 2020 476 Comments

Happy Saturday! We're back with our third and final Favorites from the Vault giveaway opportunity!

During a recent warehouse cleaning session, we were happily surprised to find some hidden treasures -- a handful of past kit items. We gathered every last piece from a few select kits, and now you have a chance to win some SOLD OUT My Monthly Hero kit products!

We may have saved the best for last. You decide...

Who remembers the very FIRST My Monthly Hero kit? The month, October...the year, 2015. Who also remembers how quickly that kit sold out? (Back then, there were no My Monthly Hero subscriptions offered.) The beautiful color layered poinsettias came onto the scene and were a smashing hit right out of the gate -- so much so, that the kit sold out in just a few hours and our website experienced some hiccups due to the heavy traffic. We've learned and grown since then, but will never forget the excitement and joy of that very first kit. It holds a special place in our hearts as we now celebrate the MMH program's 5th anniversary with you.

As the ultimate throwback, today we have 5 sets of stamps and dies from the October 2015 kit to give away to 5 lucky winners!

TO ENTER: Comment on this blog post and let us know one piece of stamping wisdom that you wish you'd known when you started stamping! The entry deadline is Thursday, October 29 at 11:59pm PT. We will announce the 5 randomly chosen winners here on the blog.

Now we get to announce the winners from last weekend's Favorites from the Vault giveaway!

The 5 randomly chosen winners will each receive stamps and dies from the sold out October 2018 kit:

• Stephanie Benoit
• Julia Dvorak
• Mary Gilmer
• Tracy Kent
• Sandy Koca

Congratulations to all! Please send an email to info@heroarts.com to claim your prizes and include "Vault Winner" in the subject line.

Last but not least, we want to remind you that time is running out on our classic kits sale. Celebrate 5 years of My Monthly Hero with $5 off a fabulous selection of classic kits, while supplies last! The sale price ($29.99) is reflected automatically in your shopping cart -- no code needed. This offer expires October 31. Check out all eight of the classic kits on sale here.

Thanks for stopping by and celebrating our anniversary with us. Wishing you a lovely weekend!

I love this throwback kit. I wish I had known 8years ago when I first started that I CAN design!

In the beginning there were wood mounted stamps. Then they started selling unmounted red rubber stamps. I wish I had had the forethought to mount them on cling so they would have been ready to use when the Misti was invented. Instead I scrounged wood scraps from high school wood shop and spent hours cutting wood blocks and indexing, first on sticker paper and later directly on the wood when Staz-on was invented.

I wish I knew about putting things on top of mistakes or cutting out the stamped image and lifting it off the paper in case of sloppiness. This was especially disappointing if I had spent a long time coloring the image only to have a smeared background.

Love this kit!

I have many pieces of advice. I think the biggest is you don’t need everything. To tie in with that, don’t buy it unless you can see yourself using it a lot. I have so many unused products or ones that I loved but used once.

I wish I would have known that I can’t do it without a Misti, and probably without a second job. I need a second job to be able to afford all the beauties this industry has to offer. Making cards have been my scape when I need it. Love stamping and card making!

I wasted a lot of money when I first started. I bought cheap products and found they just didn’t do what I expected. Unfortunately, I thought it was me. But, as I gained more experience and watched wonderful crafters online, I started to realize the importance of quality in getting great results.

I wish I knew about tape runners as I taped my card fronts on with Scotch Double Sided Tape. I wish I knew about getting ink refills when ordering ink pads. I started in 1994, so magazines was my only source for inspirations and love looking at the different blogs I have now for inspirations, plus I love watching all the You Tube videos.

Thank you for the chance to win this kit.

I wish I thought more about how I would use certain stamp and die sets before buying. If a stamp set is too specific, say it’s intended for your best friend how many times are you going to actually use it? Even if you have two or three people you consider your best friend is spending $25 on a stamp set worth it if you only make three cards? You aren’t going to send the same card to the same person over and over so those three cards become very expensive! I now try to see how versatile a product is and how I can use it with other products I already

When I first started card making I bought only with someone in mind. I used a card program on the computer… evolved to cutting out parts of the image pieces for dimension… evolved into getting my beloved Cricut… bought tons of patterned paper…screech.. evolved into stamping!! And now I have every color of card stock and pad upon pad of paper. I love it all!! I went slow, but it was soooo worth it. I cherish every stamp, die and item! No regrets!

I started out scrapbooking and got just hooked on cards. I loved the stamping, maybe to much as indicated by my “collection”. It’s not so much what I wish I knew as what I wish they had. A “stamping platform”. I saw the “M” (will not mention names) on YouTube and thought “this is amazing!!!” I bought one on sale and have never looked back. I used to throw away more paper with “shadow” stamping, partial stamping and just poor images. Now 99% of my stamping is spot on first time. Love, Love, Love that tool

Something I wish I knew back when I started crafting is; don’t buy so much of one paper design and try to always get matching dies for your stamps. Too much of one paper design means I’m drowning in multiple sheets of paper. And I get tired of fussy cutting. Lol.

I adore this poinsettia stamp kit! I’ve been looking for a better or equal poinsettia image since I missed out on this kit, and I have not found one that I liked even nearly as much! Wish me luck in winning the contest for a set – I would treat it with care and happiness!
The very best tip I have ever seen, beginner or not, is the dryer sheet trick with dies! Run the die and paper through your Big Shot or equivalent, then take 4 dryer sheets and fold in half to get a thickness of 8 sheets, take paper and die together and place the sandwich on top of the dryer sheets with paper side down (die facing up) and run entire sandwich through your Big Shot again. Remove the sandwich from machine, and gently peel paper away from die. The result is just wonderful!

Like many people on here, I would have been very happy to know that the Misti was on the far horizon! However, for me it was not so much a problem with stamping in the early days, the trickiest bit was learning how to use a die cutting machine – I was totally baffled by all those different sandwich systems for the different types of die and embossing folders! Only after many fails did the fog finally begin to lift, and I’m so glad I persevered. Luckily we now have many how-to videos and blogs to help us make sense of it all. Thank you for your kindness and generosity – it is very much appreciated!
