Hi friends! It's time for another Stay Crafty With Hero challenge. Have you tried the latest trend of making long, skinny cards referred to as "slimline" cards? We are seeing them everywhere, and they look like so much fun! So, we want to challenge you to make Slimline Holiday Cards! If you aren't familiar with slimline cards, they are generally sized to fit into a regular business-sized envelope. A popular size is 3 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ - to make it, you cut your cardstock to 8 1/2″ x 7″ then score and fold at 3 1/2″. But really, any long & skinny size you want to make is a-ok! Just be sure to include a holiday theme on your card. We'll include all of the challenge details further down this post, but first, here's a gorgeous card from Dana!
For my card today I used the Gift Peek-A-Boo Infinity Parts, Square Peek-a-Boo Doors Mini Infinity Dies and the Merry Woof stamp set. These stamp sets work perfectly together.
Keeping with a somewhat traditional color palette, I used Plum cardstock as my layering piece for my slimline card. I die cut this with a long rectangle die first and them lined up my presents on this piece to see my exact placement. Once I had my stamps in place, I stamped with embossing ink and heat set it with gold embossing powder.
Next I splattered my card with gold paint for a "snowy" effect. The coloring on this panel was done with colored pencils. Now it was time to die cut one of the presents.
The Square Peek-A-Boo Door Mini Infinity Dies only cut on three sides leaving a hinge to open and close the door. This is such a brilliant way to add some interactive pieces to your card. The adorable pup sitting behind my door is from the Merry Woof stamp set. I stamped him on Dove White cardstock with Intense Black ink and colored him with color pencils.
I adhered the little pup behind the door and adhered this panel to a Dove White card base. For a few final touches, I pulled out my white gelli roll pen to add white faux stitching around the panel and added just a few Ombre Green sequins.
Now it's your turn - we'd absolutely love for you to join us! We want to encourage you to actually sit down and enjoy the process of creating. We know it is a source of fun, relaxation and stress relief - something we all can use a bit more of right now. Create a new card for this challenge with the theme Slimline Holiday Cards.
