Today we have a special treat! Kelly Latevola is our very special guest - with both a gorgeous card and a video. Kelly's coloring talents always make us swoon. Take it away, Kelly!
Hello Crafters! I'm so excited to be here today to share some one layer stamping and Copic coloring with you! Flowers are my favorite and making them dimensional is exceptionally fun.
I started by stamping the largest flower from the Protea Flowers stamp set in Intens-ified Black ink because it's safe for alcohol markers. Anytime you're stamping a one layer card you want to stamp whatever you want to see all of first. Once I had my largest flower stamped I masked it and then stamped my small flowers, masking as I went. Once all my masks were in place I laid down the Deco Pattern Stencil and swirled on some Salty Ocean Distress Ink. This creates a ton of interest in the background. If you feel like your pattern is a bit too busy you can add a bit more color overtop to create a tone on tone look.
With the masks removed I went in my with Copic markers to add some color. I really like to Google images of what I'm about to color so I have a good idea of how they should look. Protea or Sugarbushes come in beautiful shades of pink, so it was super easy for me to make a choice of which color to go with.
Once the main Copic coloring was completed I decided to go back in and add a drop shadow. Adding a shadow will help your image to POP up from the background, creating even more dimension.
You can see the entire process in the video below. If you’re having a problem viewing this video, please try watching it HERE in HD on YouTube.
