Video: Wispy Alcohol Ink Backgrounds with Phoenix Bird
Welcome everyone! Mindy Eggen here with you today to share some inspiration using the beautiful Phoenix Bird Fancy Die. I was so excited when I saw this being released. Art with the Phoenix has always inspired me because of the power the image provides and feelings of hope and rising up. I wanted to try and convey that in my card today.
I have a video sharing my process that you can view below or HERE on the Hero Arts YouTube channel.
I found my inspiration on Pinterest. I wanted to recreate some of the artwork I stumbled upon to give the impression of the Phoenix rising up. I'm going to use alcohol inks on Black synthetic card stock to achieve this look.
When working with alcohol inks on Black synthetic card stock, you need the Snowcap Mixative in order for the colors to show up. I placed drops of Blending Solution, a couple drops of the Snowcap Mixative and a few drops of color. Then used the Puffer tool to move the color around. It's a very relaxing process and you can create a lot of stunning backgrounds quickly.
I die cut my Phoenix from Dove White and Pumpkin card stock. Don't throw the negative pieces away because you can use those for cards too!
Using a finger dauber, I inked the very edges of the Phoenix with Hero Arts Embossing & Watermark Ink. I sprinkled on Gold Embossing Powder and heat set.
With the Phoenix die cut from Pumpkin card stock, I ink blended the edges first with Red Royal ink and a blending tool. Once that had dried, I inked the very edges of the wings with the Embossing & Watermark Ink.
This has such a striking effect!
To add dimension to the images, I die cut the Phoenix numerous times from Dove White card stock. Each Phoenix has a total of 3 layers glued together with Precision Glue before adding to the front of the card.
I used sentiments from the Shine Bright and Heart Tree Stamp & Cut sets, stamped on Dove White card stock with Intens-ified Black ink. I thought these sentiments fit well with the message I wanted to convey.
I hope you enjoyed today's inspiration. Thanks for stopping by!

Oh my gosh! I loved these backgrounds. They surely made your die cut stand out. Makes me think I need to get out those supplies and play, too. Must be very relaxing.
