Hello Hero Arts fans! Welcome back for another episode of the Color Layering video series!
In this video & episode I am taking a closer look at the Color Layering Owl set! I have several cards to share and of course a few different color combos to explore.
Watch the video tutorial below to learn how I made the cards I'm sharing today.

The Color Layering Owl set can be used for both Halloween and Christmas, as well as for everyday cards. There are several sentiments in this set that allow you to incorporate the owl image into different kinds of cards.
Today I used the following ink colors for my color combinations: Black, Charcoal, Wet Cement, Cup O' Joe, Caramel, Soft Brown, Ombre Black & Ombre Brown.
For my first project, Happy Owl-o-ween I used Black Ombre and Black ink pads for a striking black and white owl. I skipped using solid layer and by doing so preserved a lot of whites on my image.
I used a fabulous Spider Web stencil for the background on this card. I first stenciled it in Charcoal ink, next offset slightly and stenciled in Black. I also added Sparkle embossing powder onto the center spiderweb area and heat embossed it for some sparkle. The offset ink blending created a bit of a shadow to my spiderweb and it just added some additional interest to this card.
I added an orange moon (with the same Spiderweb design heat embossed in Sparkle powder) and "Happy Owl-o-ween" sentiment and embellished this card using Sunshine sequins.
For my next project I stamped my owl in Ombre Brown ink and used Cup O' Joe for the outline layer skipping the solid layer again. I wanted to dress my owl up a bit so I used a scarf from the Fa La Llama set and stamped it in Red Royal ink. I cut it out using scissors and foam mounted onto the owl for a festive holiday look.
I used Urban Skyline Bold Prints background stamp and Forever Green ink to stamp a beautiful city-like background for this card.
I heat embossed "Owl be home for the holidays" sentiment in white detail embossing powder onto red paper (created using Red Royal ink, ink blending tool and white paper) and embellished this card using Poinsettia sequins.
My last card for today is also a Holiday one. I white heat embossed Snowflakes background on white cardstock and blended Navy ink for a night sky background. I also sprayed it with White Iridescent Shimmer spray for some beautiful sparkle and shine.
I die-cut a circle out of white paper to use as a moon and also a placeholder for my owl. For the owl I went with Soft Brown, Caramel and Black inks. I foam mounted owl and branch (stamped in Black ombre) ink onto the circle and added a "You're OWL I want for Christmas" sentiment banner under it.
Lastly, I used Frost sequin mix to dress up this card.
Have fun stamping!
Yana, I think you did a great job using this owl on cards. I must admit that I laughed when I saw him wearing a scarf.
I love the details on the owl!!!!!!
