Stay Crafty with Hero Challenge #13
Hello friends! We're back with another Stay Crafty with Hero Challenge, and we're so excited to share this one with you! Last December, we partnered with Creativebug to host the Daily Practice on their website. It is called A Card A Day with Hero Arts, and it's a fun introduction to stamping, and includes a ton of techniques to try. Typically you have to have a paid membership to Creativebug to view this content, but they have made this series available for free! We encourage you to check it out!
For this next challenge, we'd love for you to look through some of the videos over at Creativebug, and find a technique to inspire you! We're calling the challenge Creativebug Inspiration - create whatever you are inspired from the video series to try! It can be the technique shown, the products used, the colors - anything!
The first several videos in A Card a Day with Hero Arts have a holiday theme, as the Daily Practice debuted in December. However, the principals taught in those classes can be applied to any style of card you with to make. And honestly, now is a pretty good time to get started on those holiday cards, anyway!
If you find a product you'd love to try after watching the series, we've set up a handy page on our website, linking to all the products - you can find that HERE. Also included on the page are several kits, inspired by the class. Libby is here today to share a card inspired by Day 31 of the series, and featuring the Reactive Inks & Embossing on Everyday Cards Kit.
Hi everyone! Today I'm sharing a card I created for a Facebook Live over on the Creativebug Facebook page last Friday. If you'd like to watch the replay of the live demo, click HERE. This card is inspired by Day 31 of the series, but includes a fun new technique, too!
I began by ink blending Blue Hawaii Reactive Ink on a bristol cardstock panel. Because the ink is reactive, you can get cool effects with water! I took the negative piece from die cutting the Paper Layering Seahorses, and used it as a stencil to apply water. This created an abstract pattern of seahorses floating in the background. I also splattered with a bit of water as well.
Setting that panel aside to dry, next I die cut a circle and ink blended with Blue Hawaii. Then I embossed the entire circle with Sparkling Sea Embossing Powder. The photo doesn't do it justice, it's so sparkly and pretty in person! I added the circle to my background, cutting off the edge of the circle, then added seahorses I had die cut and ink blended with Pool Party ink. A happy birthday message from Mix & Match Compliments finished the card.
Now it's your turn - we'd absolutely love for you to join us! We want to encourage you to actually sit down and enjoy the process of creating. We know it is a source of fun, relaxation and stress relief - something we all can use a bit more of right now. Create a new card for this challenge with the theme Creativebug Inspiration. Use the Inlinkz tool at the very bottom of this post to link up your card, and you will be entered into our drawing. We will be giving a $35 gift certificate randomly to one person who plays along! To link up your project, you need to share it publicly somewhere you can grab the link - this can be your blog, Instagram, a Flickr account - anything that allows you to have a URL or website location to link up.
We, of course, encourage you to use your favorite Hero Arts products. But any and all entries are eligible for consideration. We really care most about you bringing a little inky joy into your life. Entries must be submitted by Thursday, August 27 at 5:00pm PT to be eligible for the giveaway, and the winner will be announced when we announce our new challenge on Friday, August 28. Scroll down below the product thumbnails to find the linkup! If you share your project on social media, we'd love if you'd use the #staycraftywithhero hashtag.
