Meet Hero's Heroes! New Monthly Feature!

At Hero Arts we are family, and you are a part of the Hero Arts family as well as our valued customer! There are many people behind the scenes that work hard every day to bring you quality products and inspiration. We are starting a new, monthly feature so you can get to know them a little better. We call them Hero's Heroes because they are how we do what we do!

Let's start with Robin Edano, a member of our talented Design Team.

What you do for Hero Arts and how long you have been here?
I'm one of the designers who creates the Hero Arts products. I started at the end of 2014. Other than designing, I am also the Design Manager, and lead the in-house Design Team, managing the new products that get approved by our Art Director, Laura. I mostly keep a close eye on our crazy tight calendar and nag the team to hurry up and finish. My favorite thing out of all the different products I've designed over the years has to be the Color Layering Flamingo. That one was my first color layering clear stamp set. It's really exciting to see something you've worked hard to design become real, and then see all of the amazing and beautiful cards that get created with it.

Family, Creativity & Crafty

I grew up in California and have lived in the Bay Area my whole life.

What do you enjoy doing in your personal life?
I love going to used bookstores to find treasures or anything interesting to read. My go-to sections are art, comic books and graphic novels, but I also like to venture into the metaphysics and science fiction. Even though I draw and design for work, I also keep a sketch book (or 3!) and fill those up when I can.

What is the kindest thing that anyone has ever done for you?
The earliest memory I have that sticks out in my mind is when I started kindergarten. My twin brother and I were in the same class. My brother started feeling sick and was sent home. I hadn't made any friends yet so I'm guessing I felt alone, then started crying. My hair was stiff with hair gel. At one point a kid started rubbing my head and hair gel flakes started getting in the air. This was in the morning so light was streaming through a window and it was illuminating the flakes. The teacher noticed and started saying "Look! It's like snow flakes!". I stopped crying, and other kids started jumping in and rubbing my head. Everyone, including me, started to laugh at the "snow flakes". It was really gross but the kindest thing I could remember.

Best vacation you’ve been to?
The first family road trip with our dogs, Mila & Sheba. We went to Yosemite park and our dogs loved it so much.

If you could interview one person (dead or alive), who would it be?
Hayao Miyazaki, I love his films! His artwork and pictures are so beautiful in movies like Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro or Howl's Moving Castle. He inspires me to be a better artist.

If your house was burning down, what is the one non-living thing you would save?
My laptop! It has all my artwork stored in there.
