June My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #6 + Giveaway!
The June My Monthly Hero kit has a fantastic eco-friendly journal that I can hardly wait to begin filling out during my family's next vacation. I can see myself writing down some notes, adding tickets and maps, little bits of this and that - turning it into an old fashioned scrapbook.
I've kept journals like this in the past and by the time our vacation was over the journal was pretty thick with a lot of items sticking out, so I knew I needed to add some sort of closure to this one to make it not only pretty, but functional.
I die cut a tag out of [hero_product_link sku="661149" text="Sizzix paper leather"] and adhered one onto the back cover folding around to the front; I added airmail twine and was able to tie the journal shut and make sure all of my little memorabilia pieces would stay nicely inside.
To decorate the front cover I used alpha stamps from the add-on stamp set and stamped "Travel" repeatedly using [hero_product_link sku="AF214" text="Cup O' Joe"] ink. I also added a post mark frame and a little suitcase to the mix.
My leather tags were also decorated with a bit of stamping, I used stamps from the main kit and stamped various sentiments, again using the same Cup O' Joe ink and also [hero_product_link sku="AF249" text="Unicorn White"]. The leather paper is not like the usual paper, so its best to heat set the ink once stamped to avoid having smudges.
I couldn't resist adding a few die cuts to the cover - I adhered a little red airplane and a [hero_product_link sku="PS627" text="kraft"] suit case, both die cut using dies from the kit.
