Coffeehouse Card Trio
Rosie Lopez
Hi there! It's Rosie and today I am sharing a trio of cards with a coffee theme. Something you may not know about me is if I make one card, there are likely 3 or more similar cards in the set. If I am taking the time to create a handmade card then I can take a bit more time and make several.
I started these cards the same way I start most of my projects, I stamped the images from the Perk Up stamp set several times with Intens-ified Black ink and then Copic colored the coffee pot. I die cut those and ended up with four sets of coffee pots and mugs.
I had planned on making two 2-for-1 cards but in the end went a different route with the last card. I used the Arches Infinity Dies to die cut an arch from Cup O' Joe and Woodland cardstock. I saved the negative piece from both panels. I also used the Woodgrain Texture Fancy Die die to make one panel from Antique Ivory cardstock.
I used half the woodgrain panel on two card bases to look like a table. Then I used White Satin Pearl Embossing Powder to heat emboss the sentiment on Plum and Pine cardstock. I matched that up against the woodgrain panel on the card base. I added a little dimension behind the arched panels and adhered them to the card bases. Then I added the coffee pot and coffee cups.
Moving on to the last card, I was going to use those two negative pieces to create two more cards but when I started playing around with them on my panel I liked the look of the two arches coming from the side and then thought I could do a fun fold this way.
So, I used that woodgrain die one more time, this time embossing with an Eggplant card panel. I scored the arches where I wanted them to fold around the back of the card and adhered them to the back of the woodgrain panel. I did offset those just a bit for an asymmetrical look. I die cut one slightly smaller white arch so there is a place to write a message.
I added the die cuts and sentiment to the lower right arch, but it still needed something. So I added the shadow stamp and some coffee beans from the Stovetop Espresso die set.
While my plan for this set didn't turn out the way I planned, I still created 3 cards using only a handful of products. Plus, my third card has a fun fold and a very different look! I hope this inspires you to challenge yourself to create more than one card at a time!
