3 Sunny Cards Using the April 2026 My Monthly Hero Kit
Hero Arts
Hello! I’m Lisa Arana and I am so excited to be guest designing for the Hero Arts blog today. I’m sharing three cards featuring the April My Monthly Hero Kit: Plant Lady Society.Â
From sweet little garden scenes to pretty floral bouquets, this kit has so many fun pieces to mix and match. Each card also includes an easy ink blending idea for a soft sunny glow in the background.Â
Let's Explore & Create with My Monthly Hero
Card #1: Stenciled Sunny Window
The Greenhouse Die Set and You Grow Girl Stamp & Cut are such a sweet pairing on this first card. That darling little cat looks right at home with the stamped flowers, vase, and playful sentiment. The arched glow behind everything gives it that soft window-lit feel, which keeps the design bright and cheerful.
Instructions
- Die cut Classic White Cardstock using the 3rd largest Nesting Rectangle Infinity Die.
- Die cut an arch from copy paper to create a stencil, then ink blend yellow ink in the center of the panel. Keep the ink blend lighter at the top and darker at the bottom.
- Die cut the Greenhouse Die Set cat from Tuscan, Classic White, and Raven Cardstock, then assemble.
- Stamp the You Grow Girl Stamp & Cut vase, flowers, and sentiment, then die cut them with the coordinating dies.
- Adhere the die cut and stamped pieces over the stenciled background with foam tape.
- Add gold pearls.
- Attach the finished panel with foam adhesive to an A2 card base made with Classic White Cardstock.
TIP:Â This is a great technique to try when you want the glow to stay in one specific spot behind the focal point. A stencil makes it easy to control the shape, and creating one with a die gives you even more options.
Card #2: Sunny Grounded Garden
The Watering Can Dies are the focus on this card. The torn layers are the perfect home for the tucked-in sprouts for a fresh garden feel. I included the fun birthday sentiment from House Plants Stamp & Cut and used gold pearls as tiny water droplets. That soft sunny glow in the background helps ground the design and gives all the layers a sunny place to land.Â
Instructions
- Start with an A2 Classic White Cardstock card base and ink blend a soft horizontal band across the center, keeping it darker at the bottom and lighter at the top.
- Tear strips of Classic White Cardstock and layer them onto the card base. Leave room at the top of the bottom strip to tuck in the sprouts.
- Stamp the House Plants Stamp & Cut sentiment and flower in the bottom right corner.
- Die cut the Watering Can Dies sprouts and watering can from Rainforest, Fern, Waterfall, and Blush Cardstock, then assemble.
- Glue the sprouts to the card front and tuck the bottoms behind the top torn layer.
- Add the watering can with foam adhesive.
- Finish with gold pearls.
TIP:Â This kind of blending is perfect when the pieces on your card need something underneath them. That soft band of color helps the whole design feel grounded while still keeping plenty of open white space.
Card #3: Sunny Framed Bouquet
The Fresh Flowers Dies included in this kit are wonderful for making bouquets. I tucked them into a soft blue vase with vellum over the top for that frosted sea glass look, then added the sentiment from Hello Beautiful Stamp & Cut on a torn strip at the bottom. The die cut glow behind the bouquet gives it a soft frame and helps the arrangement stand out.
Instructions
- Die cut a rounded oval frame and ink blend on it, keeping the color lighter at the top. Adhere it flat to an A2 Classic White Cardstock card base.
- Die cut the Fresh Flowers Dies flowers and vase from Classic White, Fern, Blush, Tutu, Dahlia, Waterfall Cardstock and vellum. Assemble the die cuts and adhere them to the card base.
- Stamp the Hello Beautiful Stamp & Cut sentiment on a strip Classic White Cardstock and tear along the top edge. Pop it up along the bottom of the card with foam adhesive.
- Finish with gold pearls.
TIP:Â A die cut shape gives the glow a more framed look and keeps the edges nice and crisp. It also adds a little subtle dimension, and you can change up the whole feel just by trying a different shape.
