Showered With Love Dimensional Cards

I have three projects to share with you today that feature the new Showered With Love Collection by Vicky Papaioannou. I fell in love with this adorable collection the moment that I saw it and love how versatile it is!

Duck with Umbrella Shadow Box Card

For my first card, I created an A2-sized shadow box card featuring the sweet little Duck With Umbrella Etched Dies combined with the new Rain or Shine Etched Dies.  I wanted to add a bit of dimension to my duck, so I first die-cut my pieces (for both my duck and umbrella) from a sheet of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110lb Card Stock.  I then used Copic Markers to color each piece so that I could add some shading.  This step isn’t necessary, and you can easily just cut each piece from colored card stock instead.

Copic Colors Used:

• Umbrella: R14, R27, R46, R89
• Duck: Y13, Y15, V12
• Raincoat, Hat, and Boots: B12, B16, B18
• Beak and Legs: YR04, YR18

Next, I created my box card base using a piece of Raindrop Card Stock. This type of box card is actually pretty easy to create.  Here are some steps to follow if you want to make one on your own.

• Create your box base by trimming two pieces of card stock to 7” x 4.25” and score them both at 1.5” and 5.5” on the long side
• Next, die cut a shaped window (I used the Nestabilities Standard Circles LG Etched Dies to both die cut my circle-shaped window as well as a white circular frame) into one of the pieces.
• Fold both pieces along the score lines and attach them together (or if you prefer, attach these two pieces after you have added the inner shelves)
• Add shelves on the inside of the box (you can fit 3 if you want). To do this, trim pieces of card stock to 4.75” long at whatever height you choose.  Score each piece at 3/8” from each end to create tabs to attach to the inside walls of the box.
• Attach your images

Next, I added a 4 1/8” x 3 7/8” piece of ink-blended card stock to my background to create a stormy-looking sky.  For this piece, I used a blend of Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, and Faded Jeans Distress Oxide Inks.  I also added some grass that I had cut from a piece of Rainforest Card Stock and a white picket fence using the Die D-Lites Picket Fence Etched Dies. I also added a few clouds from the Rain or Shine Set.  Lastly, I added my hot foil sentiment from the Mini Everyday Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set onto a strip of Cosmic Sky Card Stock and adhered it to the lower left portion of my card with liquid adhesive.

When upright, this card measures 4” across and 4.25” tall.  When folded, it measures at 4.25” x 5.5” and fits perfectly into an A2-sized envelope for mailing.

Umbrella Bloom Card

My next card features the new Umbrella Bloom Etched Dies.  For this card, I first created my base with some layers of both Cosmic Sky and Snowdrift Card Stock.  I also added a detailed layer of Snowdrift Card Stock using the Picot Petite Rectangles Etched Dies.  For my umbrella, I used the striped die inserts that come with the Umbrella Bloom Die Set to give my umbrella some added interest and color.

I also added a layer of ink-blended card stock to fit perfectly on top of my detailed rectangle piece.  I once again used a blend of Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, and Faded Jeans Distress Oxide Inks and blended from the lower left corner starting with my darkest color and working toward my lightest. Before adding this ink-blended piece to my card base, I stamped my sentiment from the Many Thanks Clear Stamp & Die Set with some Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.  Lastly, I die cut all of the pieces from my umbrella using a variety of colored card stock pieces and adhered them to my card with liquid adhesive for the pieces that I wanted to lay flat, and 3D foam adhesive for the pieces that I wanted to give some dimension. Card Stock Used:

• Card Base: Cosmic Sky and Snowdrift
• Foliage: Rainforest and Fern
• Red Flowers: Poppy Field
• Yellow Flowers: Chamomile
• White Flowers: Snowdrift

Raining Hearts Card

For my last card, I combined the Raining Hearts Etched Dies along with the Umbrella Bloom Etched Dies.  This time, I used the polka dot insert die inside my umbrella to give it a different look than my last card.

For both my card base as well as umbrella, I used some more Poppy Field Card Stock.  I added a darker shade of red card stock for the shadowed portion of my umbrella, giving it some more dimension. For my background, I layered both my red and white pieces of card stock.  I used the Raining Hearts Die Set to cut out some hearts from a piece of Snowdrift Card Stock and layered it onto my Poppy Field Card Stock, allowing the red to peek through.  I then stamped my sentiment from the Many Thanks Clear Stamp & Die Set with some black ink.  Lastly, I adhered my umbrella to my card front and added a few red heart embellishments that I had stashed away.
