Delicate Impressions Collection - Cardmaking Ideas with Jenny

Hello all my crafty friends, I hope you’re doing well! It’s Jenny here, joining you to share the three card projects I’ve created with the Becca Feeken Delicate Impressions Collection. This collection is absolutely gorgeous! It features some simply stunning background, border and sentiment Glimmer plates in such a delicate and ornate style - absolutely perfect for foiling. And once again, the Glimmer sentiments feature a coordinating outline die which is amazing for avoiding fussy cutting!

Beautiful Friend

My first card features the Sweet Blooms Border Glimmer Plate which is my favorite from the entire Collection.

I glimmered it twice on an A2 panel of handmade watercolor paper using Blush Glimmer Hot Foil using the washi tape hinge method to ensure it lined up. This creates an entire background of the beautiful flowers.

Glimmer hot foil resists wet mediums so is perfect for easy water coloring projects. I watercolored my panel using pan watercolors, building up layers of pink and purple color on the flowers, and sea-green on the leaves. My watercoloring was quite loose, and I added plenty of splatters for a more artsy look. When dry, I added the panel to a white notecard.

My sentiment is from the Heat Melts Sentiments in the collection. This font is simply gorgeous and I glimmered it in Blush hot foil again onto black cardstock to coordinate and contrast with the background, die cut it with the coordinating die (love this!) then popped it into the centre of the card with foam tape. To embellish, I scattered a few Fashion Silver embellishments.

You Made My Day

My second card features both the new Diamonetta Background and the Filigree Crescent Band Glimmer plates from the collection. The Diamonetta Background can be glimmered twice in the same way as I did for the Sweet Blooms plate to create a complete card panel background. I used Aura Glimmer foil (one of my favorites) to glimmer the plate twice onto a panel of pale pink cardstock. This foil is stunning with a gold holographic look, and it adds a lot to the very fine lines of this plate. If you get a little over-foiling (foil sticking where you don’t want it) with this plate, you can easily remove it by gently applying a pencil eraser to remove it.

I trimmed down the panel to 3.75” x 5.5” and adhered it to a panel of pale gray cardstock trimmed to 4.25” x 5.5” which I mounted onto a white notecard. My main focal point on the card uses the Filigree Crescent Band Glimmer plates. These are mix and match and can be used to create a variety of looks and include several ‘swap out’ sentiments that you can drop into a circular plate to create the central motif. I used smaller band image and hot foiled it twice on white cardstock in Matte Gold Glimmer hot foil. I then used the larger filigree scroll image to foil this into the bands, and fussy cut them out. I adhered them with foam tape vertically to my card panel.

The centre was created using the ‘Thank You So Much’ and ‘You Made My Day’ plates dropped into the circular plate and foiled along with the smaller filigree image. There are also other images you can add to the centre here. I die cut the image with a basic circle die, and mounted it onto the centre of my card with a double layer of foam squares.

Fanfare Border Notecard

My final card is a notecard that can be used for any occasion. We all need a few of these in our stash - you can send it as is, or simply pop a sentiment on it when you need to send it. For this I’m using the Fanfare Border from the Collection.

I glimmered it in Matte Gold glimmer hot foil onto deep purple cardstock to create a band. I love how these plates can fit together to create borders or even an entire background. They interconnect perfectly! I trimmed out the band leaving a smaller border and set aside.

I trimmed down a panel of Tin Pail cardstock to 4.25” square and die cut it four times with one of the dies from the Becca Feeken Filigree Quartet to create a band just a little wider than the glimmered piece, which I mountd over the top with foam tape. I overlaid the panel on more deep purple cardstock, then a slightly large square of gold mirror cardstock to add a foil border. The entire piece was mounted onto a Spellbinders Card Shoppe Square notecard. To finish, I scattered a few Fashion Gold embellishments on the ends of the curlicues.

Hello Monique! the hinge method is where you place the Washi at the top of the plate first (positioned where you want it to be on the card), fold back the plate and place the foil underneath, drop back the plate then adhere it securely. it means you can foil, then fold back up the plate and if you missed any areas, just place more foil and stop the plate back – the hinge and it will drop back where it was before (like double stamping in a stamp positioned). Yana shows this method in some of her videos on the channel x

Beautiful cards, Jenny. I am unfamiliar with the washi tape hinge method… can you tell me what that is? I can’t wait for the Sweet Blooms border glimmer plate to come back in stock so I can order it. Your “Beautiful Friend” card has inspired me! Thank you!
