Video: Simple Pencil Shading

Jessica Frost-Ballas

Good morning! Jess here with a video showing you how using just a single colored pencil for some simple stamp shading can really make a card pop! I'm also sharing another look at the newest Partners stamp set: Friendship Blooms with Gina K. Designs!

You can watch the video below:

If you are having trouble viewing the video, you can watch it here on YouTube.

To start I used my MISTI to stamp the gorgeous floral arrangement from Friendship Blooms onto Hero Hues Plum Cardstock with Unicorn White Pigment Ink. I blasted it with a heat gun to set the ink and then started coloring! I mostly followed the lines of the stamp and added simple shading with a white colored pencil to the flowers only. I didn't press the pencil too hard into the paper to keep my shading light.

After I was done shading I placed the panel back inside my MISTI and restamped the floral arrangement with Embossing & Watermark Ink and heat-embossed it with White Embossing Powder. I also stamped and heat-embossed the sentiment from Friendship Blooms with White Embossing Powder.  I trimmed the panel down to 4" by 5.25" and adhered it to a Hero Hues Dove White Top-Folding Card!  Finally I added a few Nuvo drops in Wild Orchid over the berry images in the stamp to finish my understated but elegant card!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fabulous Monday!

What a gorgeous card! I love the simplicity of just adding some shading with a white colored pencil! :)

This is an easy, gorgeous card! What could be better than that?

I love the look of this and the technique that creates a beautiful card with a minimum of supplies, plus using some of the card stock collection in house! Lol! Of course, the stamp set from Gina K. is beautiful and the floral design, though large enough to cover a card, is not over-powering.
