Video: Ornament Peek-A-Boo Card with a Surprise Inside!
Hi everybody! It's Maria here and I'm hoping you've all had a wonderful weekend. Today I'd like to kick this week off with a really fun card featuring the Ornament Peek-A-Boo Infinity Parts stamp set and the Circle Peek-A-Boo Doors Mini Infinity Dies. These dies coordinate perfectly with the ornament stamps to create fun little doors so that the ornaments swing open (you can stamp messages or other fun things inside). Today I decided to share another fun way to use these dies to hide surprises inside of your cards. It's a really great way to share small gifts and to bring a smile to someone's day!
You can watch the video of how I created this card here (or follow along for written instructions).
-
My card base measures 8.5" x 7.5" and is scored at 3.75".
-
My card face measures 8.5" x 3.75"
I used my MISTI to stamp the ornaments onto the card base in clear embossing ink. This was just so that I knew where to place my dies to create the windows. Then, I stamped the ornaments onto the card face using Intens-ified Black ink. I used this ink because it is safe to use with Copic markers. Next, I used a ruler and a thin, black marker to add strings to my ornaments. I drew them up to the place where I would be adding my "Merry Christmas." I set this piece aside so that my ink could dry before I did my coloring.
I grabbed my Circle Peek-A-Boo Doors Infinity Dies and used them to die cut the ornaments that I had stamped onto my card base. This created three doors that can be opened from the inside of the card. I used the No Trespassing Stamp & Cut set to stamp "open," and, "open this," on the doors. Then, I used adhesive tape and aluminum foil to seal off the openings from the front side of the card. I also used a double layer of foam tape to create pockets so that I could put small gifts inside. This means that the recipient of the card can tear open the aluminum foil and find a surprise inside! If you are having trouble picturing how I did this please watch the video I shared at the beginning of this post.
To finish off my card face I used Copic markers to color in the ornaments. Then, I die cut "Merry Christmas" four times out of white cardstock, and, one time from gold glitter cardstock. I glued all of the layers together adding the gold layer to the top. This gave me great dimension and helped the sentiment to really pop off of the card when I glued it on. Finally, I adhered the card face to the card base using the foam adhesive that I had already added. This trapped my gifts inside and finished my card. To see what surprises I added to the inside of my card please head over to watch the video.
I had so much fun making this card and I hope it might inspire you to use the Infinity Peek-A-Boo Door collection in a different way. This technique can be used with any of the other dies from this collection. It would also be really fun to do this for a Halloween card to share candy in a fun way, or, for a birthday card to make someone feel really special.
I hope you all have an amazing week! Happy crafting!
