VIDEO: Ink Blending & Stenciling a Modern Christmas Card
Michelle Short
Hello there, Michelle Short here with a non-traditional Christmas card showing how you can create fun giftwraped presents using the Gorgeous Giftwrap Layering Stencils, along with other products from the Best Gift Ever collection.
Watch the Video & Learn:
- How to use the Gorgeous Giftwrap Layering Stencils in two different ways
- How to use the stencils on their own or combine with other products in the collection
- How to press letterpress + foil plates with regular cardstock
I started off my card by pressing the bows from the Wrap It Up Letterpress + Foil Plates set using the Betterpress Letterpress System with BetterPress Black Ink.
I pressed them onto Deluxe Smooth White Cardstock. Whilst this isn't the recommneded cardstock to use for the letterpress look, it did still give a slight impression on the cardstock and transfered the ink beautifully!
Add coloring with Layering Stencils
- Place the first of the Gorgeous Giftwrap Layering Stencils on top and added ink blending using Ultra Pink Core Ink and a Large Ink Blending Brush.
- For the second stencil (the one that adds the patterns), place it on top and again added ink blending using Ultra Pink Core Ink. Go over the area multiple times to make it darker than the base layer.
I wanted to switch up some of the patterns for the presents, so I left two without the pattern on for now. I then die cut them out using the Gift Boxes Die Set.
After die cutting, I placed the stencil back over the indivdual presents and added the patterns. This is a great way to mix and match the different patterns with the different presents!
Embellish the presents with festive dies
- Adhere the presents onto an A2 sized card made from Pitch Black Premium Cardstock with thin foam tape.
- Die cut out the small foliage die from Holly Berries Stamp & Cut XL, as well as the small snowflakes from Snowflake Patterned Cover Plate from Deluxe Smooth White Cardstock.
- Add ink blending to the foliage with Kiwi and Green Hills Core Ink. Cut the foliage down and adhered it around the presents. Adhere the snowflakes on top with thin foam tape.
I pressed the sentiment from Here for the Presents Letterpress + Foil & Cut onto Deluxe Smooth White Cardstock using Betterpress Black Ink. It was die cut and then the die cut another two times from the same white cardstock. I adhered them to the back of the pressed one before adhering to the card.
To finish, I embellished with Pink Color Essentials Gems.
I hope I have inspired you to create some gorgeous giftwrap creations! Thank you so much for visiting, I hope you have a wonderful day!
