Video: Happy Birthday to Roo with April My Monthly Hero Kit
Hello, friends! It’s Channin here with a video demonstrating how I created this fun birthday card with the April My Monthly Hero Kit. In the video I also share how I created some masks with the included stencil to add color to the sun. Please check out the video below to see the whole process.
(If you are having trouble viewing this video, please try watching it HERE on YouTube.)
First, I trimmed down a sheet of Dove White cardstock to create a 3 3/8” x 4 5/8” panel. I then taped the stencil onto the panel, taped off sky and ink blended the ground with Pumpkin Pie and Caramel ink. When I finished the ground, I then taped it off instead and then ink blended the sky with Splash.
Next, I removed the stencil, taped off the sky again and ink blended the ground once more with Pumpkin Pie and Caramel but lighter this time. I then smooshed the Caramel down onto my work surface, added water, and splattered some of the water-down ink over the ground.
Next, I created two masks to add color to the sky and sun. I created these masks by simply ink blending over the stencil twice onto light-weight cardstock. I then trimmed one of the masks to protect the sun, so this mask was basically a circle and for the second mask, I completely cut the sun out so I could use this mask to ink blend the sun.
I then placed the first mask down over the sun, using a small piece of rolled tape to hold place and ink blended the sky with more Splash Reactive ink. Once I had finished adding more blue to the sky, I removed the first mask and taped the second mask in place over the panel. I then ink blended the sun with Lemon Drop and Creamsicle Reactive inks and removed this mask when I had finished.
Next, I stamped several images from the kit’s included stamp set. I first stamped a couple of kangaroos in Pumpkin Pie and Caramel. I then stamped three shrubs in Fog and Moss. Once I finished stamping all the images I die cut them out with the matching dies. I then stamped a sentiment in INTENS-ified Black Ink onto my landscape and adhered the panel onto an A2 top-folding Sand card base. I finished the card by adhering the die cuts to the card front.
I hope you enjoyed my card! Thank you so much for stopping by!!
