Video: Fall Card with Holiday Stamps & Easier Way to Align Color Layering Images
When I find a stamp set I just adore I always look for several other ways I can use it and this is just the case with Hero Arts newest Holiday [hero_product_link sku="CL985" text="Deer Color Layering"] stamp set.
Even though this is a Holiday stamp set there are still a number of ways it can be used on non-Holiday projects. Today I challenged myself to use this set along with a few other Christmas stamps to create a Fall card.
Some Color Layering stamp sets can be tricky to align and stamp perfectly. I have found one simple trick that always works for me and hopefully, will work for you too.
To stamp the deer you see on my card I selected the following colors of ink: [hero_product_link sku="AF275" text="Soft Vanilla"], [hero_product_link sku="AF311" text="Brown Ombre"] and [hero_product_link sku="AF255" text="Pumpkin Pie"]. Usually I would start with the bottom layer and lightest color of ink. This is a good option when your stamps are brand new or haven't yet been stained. But if you've used your stamps for quite a bit you might find it difficult to align the next layers over such light base layer.
To eliminate this problem I often like to start by stamping the last (the top layer) using a darker color of ink. When using dye inks it doesn't really matter how you layer your colors as the inks are translucent. However if you are using pigment inks to stamp your images the order in which you stamp your layers will be important.

I also used images from the [hero_product_link sku="CM102" text="Vintage Christmas Post"] and [hero_product_link sku="CM101" text="Vintage Christmas Wishes"] stamp sets. To decorate the antlers of my deer I stamped and die cut several leaves using [hero_product_link sku="AF222" text="Soft Olive"] and Pumpkin Pie ink colors.
My sentiment, Dearest Friend, was created using a frame from the [hero_product_link sku="SB127" text="Holiday Tags Stamp+Die Combo"] and a message from the Deer Color Layering set; both were heat embossed in [hero_product_link sku="PW115" text="Brass embossing powder"].
The stamped background panel was die cut using the second largest die from the [hero_product_link sku="DI198" text="Infinity Rectangle Die Set"] and was matted onto a gold foil panel. I also added some natural twine and adhered it onto an A2 top chocolate brown card base.
