Video: Clean and Simple Mixed Media
Good morning! Jess here with a video tutorial showing you how you can create a mixed media design in a clean and simple style!
(If you are having trouble viewing this video, please click HERE to watch on YouTube.)
I'm creating a page for my art journal today so I start by trimming a panel of Dove White cardstock down to 4.5" x 6.5" but you could make this same design for an A2 card or even a large 12" x 12" scrapbook page.
I add a few drops of Gold Glimmer Metallic Ink to my work surface and add a little water to help loosen it up. Then I ink up the music notes stamp from Background Texture Strips with my makeshift ink pad, stamp off the excess ink onto scrap paper and then stamp it on my panel. I repeat this process to stamp the music notes again. Before I clean up the ink I use a damp paintbrush to splatter some of the gold ink across the panel and let it dry completely.
Next I stamp the two brushstroke images from Mixed Textures onto my panel with a rainbow of Hero Hues Core inks. I use Ultra Pink, Pale Tomato, Papaya, Butter Bar, Green Apple, Summer Sky, and Orchid inks and vary which stamp I use for each color for a more randomized pattern. Then I place the Petal Burst Stencil over the panel and apply a little Glitter Hero Paste with a palette knife. I don't cover the whole stencil, I just want a little sparkly hint of the pattern.
While that's drying I die-cut the Delicate Butterfly Fancy Die with Black Glitter and Vellum Paper. I also stamp the sentiment from Rainbow HeroScape onto Pitch Black cardstock with Embossing & Watermark ink and heat-emboss it with Gold Embossing Powder before trimming it down to a thin label. I use Precision Liquid Glue to adhere the center of the butterflies to the panel and then carefully fold up their wings to create a little dimension. I finish the panel by adding the sentiment with foam mounting tape.
And that's it! See, mixed media doesn't have to be messy! You can keep that clean and simple style and still use lots of different mediums. Thanks so much for watching and have an amazing week!
