Video: Using Cardstock Scraps and Simple Swipe Embossing

Sep 28, 2020 Jessica Frost-Ballas

Good morning! Jess here with a clean and simple video to start your week! Today I'm using some cardstock scraps and a little swipe embossing to create a thank you card that's perfect for fall.

I've also created a video for today's card and you can watch the video below or over at our YouTube channel!

To start I've cut 1/4" and 1/2" strips of Hero Hues cardstocks in Chestnut, Nautical, Plum, Mustard, and Papaya.  I've also die-cut the wheat stalks from Autumn Bouquet Fancy Dies and an A2 panel from Sand cardstock.  I stamped a sentiment from Happy Autumn Forest onto one of the strips of cardstock with Embossing & Watermark Ink and heat-embossed it with Gold Embossing Powder.  I arrange the strips and adhere them to the A2 panel. Then I trim off the overhang.

I wanted to give my card a little more sparkle so I do some simple swipe embossing. I take my Embossing & Watermark Ink and lightly brush it across the die-cut stalks. Then I sprinkle it with Gold Glitter Embossing Powder and heat-emboss it. If you get too much powder on the cardstock you can use a clean paintbrush to brush it off. You don't need a lot of powder to give it some sparkle! I also die-cut the bow from Autumn Bouquet Fancy Dies, pressed my Embossing & Watermark Ink pad over the die-cut and then heat-embossed it with Gold Glitter Embossing Powder.  Finally I adhered the die-cuts to the panel with Liquid Precision Glue to finish the card!

Thanks so much for visiting today and I hope you have a fantastic week!

My most fav. part of this video is THAT CAT! <3 I love when I can use up the so many paper scraps I have and this is the clever & clean & nice way to use it! Beautiful color combination, too!

I love this card, very fall-ish. Simple but elegant. Those kitties sure do like to help. My cat, Rascal George, helps me all the time. Thanks for sharing your talents and loved using the scraps up.

Now I know why I should save my scraps and how to use them! Swipe embossing is new to me, although I have done it on occasion, not knowing it had a name!

Lovely card. Thank you!
