Subtle Backgrounds with Bold Prints

Welcome friends! This is Mindy back to share inspiration on using your background stamps for a subtle look.

Backgrounds are quite fun because they can be used for many different techniques and purposes on your card projects. Normally, I let the background be center stage of the design. Today, it's going to be a little more subtle.

Of course, one of my favorite ways to create and use backgrounds is with my gel press. I applied Azalea, Paradise an Dandelion Ink to my gel plate and blended with a large rubber brayer.

Then I pressed the Wave Pattern Bold Prints stamp onto the gel plate, applied some pressure and removed. Next, I took a piece of Deluxe Smooth White cardstock and applied that to the gel plate to pick up the design.

You can see in the close up shots how beautiful yet subtle this background is. When I stamped this onto the gel plate, it REMOVED ink, leaving the stamped area white. This is a lot softer of a look than stamping in white ink or heat embossing.

For the rest of the card, I added letters from the Luggage Tag Alphabet Frame Cuts to spell out SUMMER. The smaller sentiment I found in the Let's Celebrate stamp set and it worked together perfectly stamped in Intens-ified Black ink.

I finished off this fun, summer theme with some elements from the Sea Creatures Fancy Dies cut from white cardstock.

Hope you enjoyed today's inspiration! Thanks for poppin' in!
