Snowflake Window Card
For my holiday cards, I usually send out a photo card rather than a handmade card. It's just too overwhelming for me to get them done at such a busy time of the year. But, I still do give out quite a few handmade cards along with gifts for teachers, friends and neighbors. So I'm starting this season's stash with this snowflake window card.
I die cut the Snowflakes & Ornament Fancy Die from white cardstock and then trimmed off the top ornament hanger part to just have a circle. Then I die cut a circle the same size from watercolor paper using the Nesting Circle Infinity Dies. I created a quick watercolor wash using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.
Once my watercolor background was dry, I adhered the snowflake die over the top. Often times when I am adhering delicate pieces like this, I run it thought my die cut machine and it makes everything nice and flat. By doing this it also helped when stamping my sentiment. The edges of the snowflake were flat, so the message could just stamp right over the top with no gaps. The message is from the Winter Holiday Messages stamp set, my favorite new sentiment set for the holidays!
Next, I created the card base and circle window. I used the Woodgrain Texture Fancy Die to create a subtle woodgrain texture on a white panel. Then I die cut a circle slightly larger than my snowflake piece from the woodgrain panel and a top folding white card base. I adhered the focal point with foam adhesive so it pops through the front of the window when folded flat. As a finishing touch I used the Crystal Clear Lacquer Pen to create some clear droplets on the card.
Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a great day! Don't forget to vote for your favorite MMH kit from the past year if you haven't had a chance to do so yet....

Gorgeous card Kelly and it suprised me that you used the Zig markers for your background. I never thought of using my markers in that way, so thank you very much for this great tip and for showing your gorgeous card.
