Simple Mixed Media Christmas Card
Hi friends! Lydia here. Make some cider, put a sweater on and get ready for more holiday crafting today!
I have the SIMPLEST of mixed media cards for you today using these mediums:
- Acrylic paint
- Embossing powder
- Embossing ink
- Glitter
I love to make cards where there are different shimmery textures, and this card is no exception. I used the Wishing You Tree Bundle to really show off this contrast on a background I created with a brayer cleaning sheet from a gel printing session – these colors looked so festive to me I had to save it.
I prepped that with my embossing powder tool – this is really important on even dried acrylic paint because depending on the paint, it can retain some tackiness, and with this clean, detailed image from Wishing You Tree, I want clear, detailed results.
After the prep, I stamped the tree in the Clear Embossing & Watermark Ink in my MISTI – inking and stamping three times to ensure good coverage on my slightly bumpy painted background.
Then I added some gold embossing powder and heated it. When that was cool, I used a pin and some Precision Glue to apply glue inside the star at the top of the tree. Then I added some Gold EarthSafe Glitter.
That contrast between sparkly gold and flatter gold is so fun. The gold also contrasts with the fiery and cool background.
Here's a closeup of the little sparkly star.
Cards that LOOK complex, don't have to be. That's why it's fun to use techniques like these to get your holiday cards done.
I hope you are having a glorious fall and getting your crafty time in.
Have a great week.
