Shake It! Interactive Card with Mindy
Welcome everyone! It's Mindy here with you today to share a beautiful shaker card for the Stay Crafty With Hero Challenge #25. It's really easy to play along. All you need to do is create any type of shaking, flipping, sliding or special fold card to be eligible. While we would love to see you use Hero products, any and all entries are eligible.
I find shaker cards are my go-to for interactive. They are easy and a lot of fun to play with!
When starting my card, I looked for something in my collection with a window which landed me on the Through The Woods Window Fancy Die. I centered the die as best as I could on Dove White cardstock measuring 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and die cut my window.
Next, I needed to create a little scene for inside my window. This can be as simple as a stamped image or ink blending. I did both!
On Dove White cardstock measuring the same size as my window panel, I ink blended Thistle and Purple Galaxy Reactive Ink using a blending blush. Then to add a bit more contrast, I added some Navy ink.
For a subtle scene, I stamped the Butterfly Garden in Sea Salt Reactive Ink. If you want to make that image pop a little more, you could stamp it in Unicorn Pigment ink. I also added flicks of Gold and White Glimmer Metallic inks.
With my background complete, I could move on to creating my shaker. I added a piece of acetate to the back of my window using the Precision Glue. To contain my shaker bits, I needed to create a well so I added a double layer of foam tape around the window. I sprinkled in a bit of Icicle Sequins mix and some purple sequins I found in my stash. Then I removed the backing of my foam tape and placed my background panel on top.
The shaker portion is done and now it's just a matter of decorating and adding a sentiment.
The window is such a delicate scene, I didn't want to take away from it or cover it up so I went with just a small sentiment. I stamped a sentiment from Sending Love Mail in Unicorn Pigment ink onto Pitch Black cardstock and heat embossed with White Detail embossing powder. I find stamping in pigment ink really gives amazing results!
Since I'm not the greatest at cutting thin sentiments, I used the dies from the Message Strips Stamp & Cut XL. This also gives me beautifully finished edges.
One last finishing touch is die cutting a butterfly from Dove White cardstock using the Envelope Accessories die set. This is another favorite die set of mine because it's great for adding interest to the card without overpowering the design. You could also die cut it from vellum.
I hope you enjoyed today's inspiration and will play along with us in the Interactive Challenge. Now I'm off to mail this card to our fearless leader, Libby because I know she loves purple!
