Monthly Feature: Meet Hero's Heroes!
We are thrilled to introduce you to another member of the Hero Arts family! There are many people behind the scenes that work hard every day to bring you quality products and inspiration. This is part of a monthly feature so you can get to know them a little better. We call them Hero's Heroes because they are how we do what we do!
Today we are spending some time with Sandy Flores!
What do you do for Hero Arts and how long have you been here?
I've been with Hero Arts for almost 9 years. I'm the go to person for data entry. Handling the majority of our wholesale accounts. I process orders, create packing slips, invoices and shipping labels. That also includes requests from our reps and artists. When needed I answer phone calls and emails to help out with customer service.
Where you are from originally?
If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be?
I was born in Oakland, Ca. Still living in the Bay Area. With my mom being Filipino (who by the way has been working in production for 20+ years) and my dad Mexican. Getting the families together is always a fun time. Although I don't speak the language fluently. I love learning new things about both cultures and seeing the similarities.
What do you enjoy doing in your personal life?Outside of Hero Arts I enjoy spending time with my furbaby, Layla Monkey. She's a 100 pound American Bull Dog that's just a love bug. When we're not being lazy (which is most of the time) we love to roam around the Bay Area and find new adventures. Whether it's soaking in the sun at the beach, camping around lakes or just taking a drive. I also LOVE collecting fun and colorful socks. I enjoy the hunt of going to different sock stores and adding them to my collection.
Best vacation you’ve been to?
Best Vacation. Tucson, Arizona. I love it so much that I take a trip there every July. It might seem odd since it's triple digit weather and also monsoon season. But, it's the birthday month of a very dear friend of mine (I call her my white mom) and I come to help her celebrate. It's definitely a home away from home. At the end of my trip I'm always relaxed and recharged. Every year I find something different and exciting to visit. My favorite go to is the Desert Museum. The exhibits are so intricate it's worth being out in the sun all day. This year I finally got to visit Old Tucson. Although we got hit with rain and thunder. I had so much fun going back in time and learning about the movies and shows that were filmed there. Still on my list is trying a prickly pear.
If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be?
Paul McCartney. His music is inspirational and I hold close to my heart. Plus, who doesn't love the Beatles? I'm happy to say that I've had the opportunity to see him three times and YES... I would absolutely go see him again.
Thank you, Sandy, for telling us more about yourself. We are grateful that you share your talent with us.
Sandy, this is such a fun and interesting interview. I love the desert too, even the heat. Thank you for sharing yourself with us!
Loved learning all of these new things about you, Sandy! And that photo of you with the Hero sign is the cutest, I love it. My in-laws live near Tucson, love it there. The Desert Museum is fantastic!!!
