June My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #3 + Giveaway
Michelle Short

Hello! It's time for another look at the June My Monthly Hero Kit before the kit releases on Monday, June 3 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. We will be here for the rest of the weekend, sharing inspiration before the launch. Now let's join Michelle for another look at this fabulous kit.
Another fantastic kit this month! I love jungle foliage and animals and this kit has it all! This kit lends itself to green hues but I wanted to do something a little different and work with purples for my card.

I first took the elephant from the main kit stamp set and stamped it on to white cardstock with Intense Black Ink. I coloured it with Copic Markers and die cut it out with the coordinating Frame Cuts, which are also in the kit. He was then set aside while I worked on the background.
I took a 5.25" x 4" panel of white cardstock and stamped the sentiment on to it using more Intense Black Ink. I then ran the cardstock through my die cutting machine with the stencil that comes in the kit and an embossing mat. This stencil gives a really lovely pattern to the cardstock.

I wanted to add a little colour behind the elephant, so I took Thistle Reactive Ink and blended this on to the panel with a blender brush. This gives a nice subtle glow around the elephant and helps it to pop off the card.
The panel was added to a top folding card base with foam tape and then the elephant added on top with more foam tape. A very simple card but I really love the texture and pattern that the stencil gives to it.
Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post. We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts. The winner will be announced first thing Monday morning, June 3, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!
Good luck!

Michelle, your card is great. The use of the embossing folder did make for an interesting background as did the purple touch!
Before I comment I would like to say that I know Hero Arts is a business to sell things and I don’t have anything against that. I really love Hero Arts and always have and always will in the future. And this is not an offense against the designer of the stamps. With that being said I would like to say that I do not think the elephant stamp needed the head dress to make it look “regal” like so many have stated. Those headdress items are used on the elephants that are in the circus or in Asia where people have elephants as “money makers”, giving rides to people etc. These elephants in people’s homes are chained up and most of the time are not cared for properly. Thailand and other asian countries have set up sanctuary’s for these elephants to live the rest of their lives free. Personally I think an elephant is already elegant, regal and majestic without the headdress. If we stop showing animals in this kind of light then maybe we will still have some roaming the jungle 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 years from now. This is just my personal opinion and I don’t expect anyone to like it or agree with it. So many of our majestic animals are on the brink of extinction now and when they are gone our world will become a very different place. That all being said I look forward to my monthly kit as usual and will stay a member despite the headdress on the beautiful elephant stamp.
My daughter loves elephants! I could make her some cute cards with it. Thanks for the inspiration. :D
So crazy excited!!!!
Oh, this kit looks fantastic! I love the elephant, can’t wait to see what other jungle animals star in this kit!
