June My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #3 + Giveaway
Hello! It's time for another look at the June My Monthly Hero Kit before the kit releases on Monday, June 3 at 1pm Eastern/10am Pacific. We will be here for the rest of the weekend, sharing inspiration before the launch. Now let's join Michelle for another look at this fabulous kit.
Another fantastic kit this month! I love jungle foliage and animals and this kit has it all! This kit lends itself to green hues but I wanted to do something a little different and work with purples for my card.
I first took the elephant from the main kit stamp set and stamped it on to white cardstock with Intense Black Ink. I coloured it with Copic Markers and die cut it out with the coordinating Frame Cuts, which are also in the kit. He was then set aside while I worked on the background.
I took a 5.25" x 4" panel of white cardstock and stamped the sentiment on to it using more Intense Black Ink. I then ran the cardstock through my die cutting machine with the stencil that comes in the kit and an embossing mat. This stencil gives a really lovely pattern to the cardstock.
I wanted to add a little colour behind the elephant, so I took Thistle Reactive Ink and blended this on to the panel with a blender brush. This gives a nice subtle glow around the elephant and helps it to pop off the card.
The panel was added to a top folding card base with foam tape and then the elephant added on top with more foam tape. A very simple card but I really love the texture and pattern that the stencil gives to it.
Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post. We’ll randomly draw one lucky winner from all the comments left across all countdown posts. The winner will be announced first thing Monday morning, June 3, before the kit launches at 10am Pacific. The more you comment, the more chances to win!
Good luck!
Love this card. Would love to win this set.
Wow! I guess I didn’t know you could run a stencil through a die cutting machine. Very clever and I will be giving that a try.
Love how used stencil for the subtle background but the elephant is my love and would love to add to collection l.
I’m very excited about this month’s kit as I’ve recently been searching for the perfect monkey design. I was also very excited to see the elephant (and stencil) included, having just watched “Soul of the Elephant” (orphans) last night on public tv Nature. Talk about timing. So I do have to agree with an earlier poster’s comment regarding the headdress, and appreciate her post. Maybe others can seek out the program and watch it while creating some cards which include an appropriately related note to the recipient! That’s how I still plan on enjoying my kit as always.
A wonderful card. I love the cute elephant an the amazing background.
