July My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #3 + a Giveaway!

MMH Countdown to Creativity

Welcome to Day 2 of our countdown to the release of the July My Monthly Hero kit on Tuesday, July 5 at 1pm eastern/10am pacific! For our first post of the day, Jayne creates two beautiful cards using the stamps and dies, as well as the gorgeous ombre ink pad we've created for this kit! The ombre spectrum is inspired by this year's Pantone Colors of the Year, "rose quartz" and "serenity". Since they changed it up this year and picked two colors, we instantly thought it would make a fun ombre pad! We're calling it Ombre Dolphin, and this ombre pad is exclusive to the kit through 2016, so if you want it this year you'd better grab a kit!

And now let's join Jayne to learn more about her cards today!

I absolutely love the realistic sea life images in this month's kit! The large stamp set is chock full of assorted aquatic creatures - there are jellyfish, sea turtles, octopuses, tiny fish and lots of different corals. Plus, there are some fun sentiments and a pair of lovely water swirls. It's a perfect stamp set for creating beautiful, ocean-themed cards for your family and friends. These stamps will also work perfectly for scrapbooking and journaling your trips to the beach or to the aquarium.

One of my favorite stamps in this month's kit is the large octopus that I've used on my first card. To create my card, I started by stamping an octopus along each of three edges of a small panel of [hero_product_link sku="PS610" text="white"] layering paper, tilting the image and allowing each octopus to extend beyond the edge. I used the new Ombre Dolphin ink to stamp each octopus. The ink color is a gorgeous blend of blue, purple and mauve. I added a [hero_product_link sku="PW110" text="white"] embossed sentiment on pink paper that I layered over a vellum circle. Using only the blue ink from the Dolphin ink pad, I stamped a collection of coral images on two corners of the card base and finished the card with a trio of gems and a twine bow.

For my second card, I used the Dolphin ombre ink pad again to stamp a collection of four different coral images across a panel of [hero_product_link sku="PS610" text="white"] layering paper. Starting at the center of the panel, I simply placed the 4 coral stamps in this month's kit on the paper in desired positions. Then, I pressed them to an [hero_product_link sku="CL032" text="acrylic block"] and inked them, four at a time, with the Dolphin ink. I repeated this process, repositioning the four stamps each time, until I completely covered the paper panel. It's an easy way to quickly create a colorful stamped background. I stamped and fussy-cut a single sea turtle, [hero_product_link sku="PW110" text="white"] embossed a sentiment, and then layered both over paper and vellum circles. For a bit of texture, I wrapped my finished card with some mauve twine and a pink button and then added three small gems.
