Having Fun with Marvy Uchida Products - Blog Hop + Giveaway!

Today we're sharing a fun collaboration we hope you'll enjoy! We've teamed up with our friends at Marvy Uchida to share projects combining their products with Hero Arts stamps and dies! Much like Hero Arts, Uchida of America has been developing and marketing a wide range of quality craft and art-related materials for over 40 years. They carry a variety of markers, pencils and other products that pair perfectly with our stamps.

We have projects to share here on the blog today from both Jessica Frost-Ballas and Sally Traidman, and some of our Creative Team artists joined in the fun with a short blog hop! Now for some project inspiration! First up is Sally, who has lots of ideas for using Marvy markers!

When I heard we were doing a blog hop with Marvy, I got really excited. I have used Marvy products for YEARS and have always loved them. I asked to work with mainly pens so let me show you what FUN I had. As you know I don’t always use products conventionally, so here are some ideas you may not have thought of.

Take your LePlume II markers and use them like watercolors! One of my loves is loosely washing a piece of watercolor paper with light hues and then scribble drawing over the paint when dry. The LePen set has a good assortment of tips. On the birthday cake in the first photo I shared, I sketched with a broader tip and then colored in with the LePlumes. I did the same for the flower cards below. I scribbled the marker colors onto a palette. I sketched some flowers with the watercolors, then added in the details with a black pen.

Next I stamped Bouquet in Black ink and painted in with markers I had scribbled onto the palette. I used a water brush to paint with.

Or simply use them to color directly on the stamps as shown with the Color Layering Happy Day Flowers set. I loved that so much when I was done I now use it on my phone on my lock screen.

Lastly were the rocks I inked up. I took white, gold and black pens and free handed some rock “painting.” I recently saw some a friend did while traveling and I HAD to try it when I got home. My yard has about 100,000 more rocks to paint!

So, this happy girl can ink and paint til the pens run dry! Go create!!!

Good morning! Today I'm sharing a simple holiday card with lots of fun texture thanks to a fun product from Marvy Uchida!

I wanted to keep it simple and keep the focus on Marvy Uchida so I started by watercoloring a background using liquid watercolors in Deep Oean, Indigo, Purple, and Black. I splattered it with white gouache and added drops from my Marvy Uchida snow marker. I heated it until the drops puffed up!

Next I stamped the hills from Ski Holiday onto dark grey cardstock with VersaMark Ink and heat-embossed them with White Embossing Powder. I fussy cut the hill and then coated the tops liberally with the snow marker. I heated it until the puffy texture started popping up all over! I love that it's not a uniform look and creates this fabulous dimension! To finish the card I stamped a sentiment from Ski Holiday and heat-embossed it with Detail Black Embossing Powder. I tore the bottom of the sentiment and added more of the snow marker before adhering it to my card with foam mounting tape! The snow is the perfect touch for this fun holiday card!
