December My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #2 + Giveaway!

We are back with another look at the December My Monthly Hero release! The kit will be available on Monday, December 4th at 1pm Eastern/10 am Pacific. We’ll be sharing ideas for using the main kit and optional add-on products all weekend long, so stay tuned for more project inspiration! Now let’s join Clare, who is sharing another look at this fabulous kit.

I think I'm a little obsessed with making backgrounds with this month's kit - it just screams for dramatic metallics and rich colors!

Today's background was inspired by THIS beautiful pin! I loved the colors, so I recreated them myself with some ink and the beautiful stencil included in the kit.

I started by covering the darkest Sea layering paper with Deep Ocean ink, and then heat setting it. Keep in mind that covering a lighter or uncoated cardstock may result in a slightly different saturation.

After heat setting, I covered the base with the stencil and applied Navy ink. Subtle, but so pretty!

I heat set the Navy ink as well, and then covered it with anti-static powder. The palm trees - from the main kit - were stamped and heat embossed in Gold, and then I added little stars to fill in the rest of the background.

The sentiment, from Color Layering Poppy, was heat embossed in Gold as well, then layered on some navy cardstock and adhered to the base. Some pretty gold sequins (small ones from the Champagne sequin mix) finished off the card!

Thanks for stopping in today and God bless!

Win a kit before you can buy it! Just leave a comment on this (and every) Countdown to Creativity post! We'll randomly draw one lucky winner from all of the comments left across all countdown posts and announce the winner first thing Monday morning, December 4th, before the kit launches at 1pm Eastern. The more you comment, the more chances to win!

Be sure to come back tomorrow for another look at this month's kit!

Blue and gold is always a stunning color combination and the embossing adds nice dimension to the design.

Nicely done! What a great idea for the background with the layers of ink and the use of the stencil. So pretty with the gold.
