August My Monthly Hero Countdown: Idea #4 + Giveaway

We are back for another countdown post, leading up to the release of the August My Monthly Hero kit! Release day is Monday, August 3 at 1pm Eastern/10 am Pacific. Don't forget to leave a comment on this post for a chance to win a kit before you can buy one! Now let's join Michelle who is sharing another beautiful look at the kit...

Hello there, this kit has such a serene and relaxing feel to it and it is perfect for those of us staying at home during this difficult time. I fell in love with the woman on the deck chair image and thought she would be perfect to create a little scene with her reading her book in the garden.

My Happy Place by Michelle Short for Hero Arts

I started off by taking a panel of Dove White Cardstock and masking off the edges. I then blended Green Apple Reactive Ink at the bottom for the grass, followed by Splash Reactive Ink above for the sky. I tried to blend out to white at the top to give a softer look. I took the sentiment from the main kit stamp set and stamped it using Intens-ified Black Ink in the sky.

I adhered the panel flat to a top folding card base. I then took the woman on her deck chair image, as well as the potted plant image from the main kit stamp set and stamped these on to white cardstock with Intens-ified Black Ink. I coloured them with Copic Markers and cut them out using the coordinating Frame Cuts that come in the kit.

I wanted the plants to look like plants growing directly in the garden, so I cut the pot part off to just show the leaves and adhered them to the bottom of the ink blending with foam tape. I then popped the woman behind them using Precision Glue.

Michelle – your card sang to me…lounging by my garden with a good book is indeed one of my happy places! I’m so amazed at the many elements in this MMH kit, and options for scene- building. Thanks so much and stay safe!

This is my favourite way to relax. This whole set is perfect for me! I like the soft look of the colours & the CAS style of your card Michelle.

  • Emily Henry

She certainly does look comfy. I have loved all the scenes created with this set. I also think they would be great cards to send to ladies who are having an especially hard time right now, reminding them to take time for themselves to relax so that they can continue on with life. A refreshing time each day is necessary for mental health.

This card totally speaks to me! Looking forward to seeing the entire release!

Your shading is well done. The pants have dimension too.The clothes are classic & won’t ever go out of style. We can always change them to what’s popular with Hero’s always changing markers.
