A Blog Named Hero - CASE Your Favorite!
Hi there crafting friends - Linda here, from A Blog Named Hero and I’m excited to be here for the last challenge of the year! We thought it might be nice to round the year out with a bit of reflection backwards, and we want to see you CASE one of your favourite cards from the year.
I was so inspired by so many of the projects created by the Hero Arts team, but I chose a gorgeous card by Janette Kausen. I just loved how she did the tone on tone for the background. I actually looked through several cards, chose Janette's, then went away and created my card over several days. It wasn’t until I was writing up this post that I realised she’d also done an ornament!
To make this card, I die cut the Poinsettia and Ornament Fancy Die from some white cardstock three or four times. I used one layer (of the external frame of the ornament) for the top (front) of the card, another layer for the inset die (this was the more intricate part of the die), and then I cut apart the remaining intricate die-cuts so that I could use the little flowers to create my tone on tone effect on the front layer, which I attached using liquid adhesive.
I used a blender brush to create the blue background on a card base, blending two shades of blue. I then added a sentiment on some black cardstock. The sentiment is from an older stamp set, but you could definitely use Flower Bouquet Pieces for the same sentiment in a delicious font.
I put the card all together, using some fun foam for dimension, and some Snowfall Glitter and a couple of old sequins to add in to the shaker area of the card. Love a good shaker card! I really want to make more of them (if only so they don’t take me so long! I always get lost in the layers lol!).
That’s it! I love how it came together and hope you do too.
We do hope you’ll join us for our last challenge of 2020, and if you do, you’re in for the chance to win one of two gift cards thanks to our beloved Hero Arts! Imagine a shopping spree for a late Christmas present :)
Thanks for all your support this year and we look forward to seeing you in 2021!
Have a safe and happy holiday season, everyone!
Big hugs,
