I die-cut the main pieces for the cardinal using the Berry Pink cardstock and the Dahlia cardstock. I used the darker shade of pink DMC Floss from the kit to stitch the cardinal. I assembled the cardinal using
Bearly Art Glue
. For the little sprigs of berries, I cut the main sprig from both Teal Topaz and Waterfall cardstock, and the berries from both Berry Pink and Dahlia cardstock.
I also brought in some elements from Day 8, including the pine leaf, the poinsettia, and the small holly leaf. I die-cut the pine leaf three times using the Waterfall cardstock, and I stitched all three using both shades of turquoise DMC floss from the kit. I die cut two poinsettias from the Persimmon cardstock and three of the holly leaves from the Teal Topaz cardstock.
I chose a sentiment from the Exclusive Sentiments Stamp Set included in the kit, and I stamped it onto a white panel using black pigment ink. I had cut this white panel using the new
Perfect Touch Rectangles and Tag
die set. I used the second largest die from that set, which allowed me to have a nice margin of both Waterfall and Teal Topaz around it.
I adhered all my elements to the card panel using
Bearly Art Glue
and foam squares. I added some highlights to the berries with a white gel pen, and then I finished the card by adding some of the Fashion Oyster Pearls from the kit.
I die-cut the cardinal pieces from the same Berry Pink and Dahlia cardstock as the first card, but I reversed the colors so that the Dahlia is the main color for this second card. Just like the letters, I did not stitch the bird. I think the stitching holes themselves add so much texture, especially with the other color of cardstock peeking through. Again, I assembled the bird using Bearly Art Glue.
As for all the little foliage scattered here and there on the card, I took the opportunity to dig through my plentiful stash of Spellbinders Christmas dies. I always find that I use my older die sets the most when I am making holiday cards. So many of these die sets are just classic and will stay in my stash forever. The older sets that I used include the
Parcel & Post Christmas Decorations
, the
Build-A-Wreath
, and the
Christmas Blooms
. I also used the
Delivering Joy Sleigh
set that just came out last month. Could I have just used one of these sets to add foliage? Of course! But, I had already pulled them all out and just started grabbing whatever looked good to me.
I cut most of the foliage using the Teal Topaz cardstock. For the little branches under the bird, which come from the
Build-A-Wreath
set, I used the Persimmon cardstock. I also used this orange cardstock for the flowers – you can see where I incorporated that poinsettia from Day 8 again.
I assembled my card base the same as I did for the first card, except the base on this card is the Teal Topaz, and the mat is the Waterfall. I used the same die from the
Perfect Touch Rectangles and Tag
die set to create the white panel. I chose a different stamp from the Exclusive Sentiments Stamp Set for this card and again used black pigment ink.
I finished this card the same as the first, by adding white highlights to the berries and the Fashion Oyster Pearls from the kit as embellishments.

For my first card, I am only using the contents of the 12 Days of Stitchmas 2024 Advent Calenda r and the 12 Days of Stitchmas Stitch Along Add-on Kit . For my color palette, I am using the Dahlia, Teal Topaz and Waterfall cardstock that is included in the kit. I did bring in two other colors of Spellbinders cardstock from my stash to round out my palette – Persimmon and Berry Pink . I love using nontraditional colors for holiday cards! For smaller details, I also used the Onyx and Snowdrift cardstock from the kit.

Joy, Unstitched
For my second card, I brought in several goodies from my stash. I started with the letters from the Stitched Alphabet Collection . I cut the outline layers from the Teal Topaz cardstock and the detail layers from the Waterfall cardstock. Even though these detail letters have holes for stitching, I chose not to stitch anything on this second card. I think it’s really important to stretch the use of our supplies, and all of the stitching dies look great even when they’re not stitched. I did keep all of the little pieces that would have come out of the stitching holes. Any of those little pieces that came out when I die cut the letters were put back in using an easy die-cut inlay technique.
