Hello crafty friends! It’s
Lisa Tilson
here today, and I am so excited to be sharing a couple of ideas for
Day 8 of the 12 Days of Stitchmas
with you! Day 8 is a set of stitching dies that create a super cute winter hat. Included are dies that cut the main part of the hat, the hat trim, a bobble to go on top, and a sentiment.
So, let’s take a look at my two cards.
Snow Day
For my first card, I am using only items from the kit, and I have popped them onto an ink-blended background. I have used two hats on my card, but I think three cascading down the card would also be fun!
The thread that I am using is the
Diamant Light Gold thread
, and I doubled it up so as to add some extra “weight” to the stitching.
I started off by stitching the main section of the hat, followed by the trim and finally the bobble. This was then repeated for the second hat. I secured my thread at the back of each die-cut piece using
Best Ever Craft Tape
.
The trims and bobble were then adhered onto the main hat piece using
Bearly Art Glue
.
For my background, I took an A2 panel of
Seaside ColorWheel Cardstock
and, using a
blending brush
, I blended Salvaged Patina and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks around the outside, making sure to leave the centre as light as possible.
The hats were then adhered on top using
foam squares
. I used one layer for the pink hat and a double layer for the green hat.
My sentiment is from the
Day 8 stitching dies
,
and it was die cut twice from white cardstock, and both pieces adhered together to form a small stack. I then added it directly onto my panel.
For a little extra interest around the hats, I die cut the snowflake from
Day 6
three times and adhered them using wet adhesive.
To finish, I added some
Gold Mix Gems
for some added sparkle and then adhered the panel onto a top-folding white A2 note card.
Sending You Joy
My next card features the
Day 8 hat
,
and I thought it would pair well with the
Day 5 mug
. This time, I changed up my background, foiled a sentiment, and added some fun additional Christmas accents.
I popped the non-stitching pieces to one side and stitched the hat and mug using DMC threads. To prevent any unsightly accidents, I used a round-end needle! The hat was stitched using
DMC Light Parrot Green
and a dark green from my stash. The mug was stitched using
DMC Light Seagreen
. For both, I used two strands of thickness.
Once I had stitched the pieces, I adhered them together using
Bearly Art Glue
.
The candy canes, holly, and berries are from
Christmas Wonder Etched Dies
– this set is fabulous as it includes so many useful Christmas dies, and I reach for it often. The holly was die cut from
Rainforest
and
Fern
, the berries from
Poppy
. The candy canes were cut from white card and
Poppy.
I adhered all the bits together where needed and went to work on the background.
The hat and mug were then adhered on top with
foam squares
.
I slotted the candy canes behind the hat and mug and adhered them with
Bearly Art Glue
. The holly and berries were also adhered directly onto the mug.
I popped some small pieces of
foam square
behind the marshmallows and added them just below the hat and mug.
