Hot Foil Joy to the World Christmas Card Tutorial with Upright Italic Press & Foil Plate
Hi, crafty friends! Lea Lawson here with you today, creating a striped holiday card featuring the beautiful new Upright ItalicJoy to the World press & foil plate. I’m sharing my step-by-step process in easy to follow photos and instructions!
To start, turn on your Glimmer Hot Foil System, then let it heat up. Once the green indicator light notifies you that the platform is ready, place the Upright Italic Joy to the World plate on it and hit the timer button. Once the timer button stops flashing, prep your Polished Brass hot foil and white cardstock.
Remove the platform from the base, then place the Polished Brass foil pretty side down on the hot foil plate. Place the white cardstock over top, then layer the plate sandwich on top and run through a Platinum 6diecut machine.
TIP: I like to add a cardstock shim in the middle of the glimmer sandwich to help press plates foil more accurately.
After running through the diecut machine, gently pull away the top layer of foil to reveal the design underneath.
Die-cut around the foiled sentiment with Arch #4 from the Essential Archesdie set.
NOT SHOWN: diecut around the sentiment again with arch #6 from the same die set.
Die-cut the second Color Block Accent Arches Etched Die from gold glitter metallic cardstock.
Adhere the gold glitter arch to the larger white arch frame.
Add foam tape to the back of the foiled sentiment arch, then adhere to the middle of the larger arch.
Die-cut the Stripe Right die from the following cardstock colors: Blush, Dahlia, Poppy, Pomegranate, Cranberry, Peridot, Rainforest, and Fern.
Gather the colored stripes shown, and adhere in a gradient to the bottom of a white A2 card base in pinks, reds, and then greens.
NOTE: You will have lots of strips left over. This would be an easy card to mass produce for the holidays, and you could feature all the different sentiments included in the Upright Italic collection!
Trim away the paper strips from each side of the card base.
Adhere the foiled sentiment arch element to the card front with liquid glue.
Die-cut the bow from Poppy and Pomegranate cardstock, then assemble.
Adhere the bow to the upper right corner of the sentiment arch.
Accent with clear self-adhesive crystals to finish!
