Hello there crafty friends,
Zsoka here with you today, sharing a few cards that I've created with the adorable
Happy collection by Sharyn Sowell. This collection is full of birthday themed products, which is great because I never seem to have enough birthday cards in my stash! You will find dies as well as Glimmer Hot Foil plates in this line. This was my first time using the
Glimmer Hot Foil system actually, or foiling of any kind for that matter! So much fun!
First up a card duo I've made with the
Celebrate with Cake Etched Dies. All my cards in this post are mounted on an A2 size top folding (portrait or landscape) card base. I cut two pink card panels to add to my card base. I then die cut two ovals using my most fave Spellbinders die set ever, the
Nestabilities Fancy Edged Ovals. Seriously, this is the most used die set in my whole stash!
I die cut all the little pieces from various patterned papers; for the flowers and candles I used some mirror copper card stock as well. On the card on the left I used the inner pieces of the cake tiers to die cut the pattern, on the card on the right however, I used the same pieces to just foil the design (
Blush Glimmer Hot Foil). That's right, you can use any of your dies to foil! Isn't that awesome?
I backed the die cut tiers with white card stock, then added foam adhesive to all of my cake pieces, on both cards. I adhered all pieces to my card front, decorated the cakes with the cute flowers and added a stamped birthday sentiment.
Next up is a very simple card! For this I used the
Birthday Banner Glimmer Hot Foil Plate and some
Blush Glimmer Hot Foil. I fussy cut out the banner so I could give dimension to it.
I glued a 5,25x4" piece of navy card stock to my card front and added the banner to it using foam tape. To finish off this card I tied some twine around the top and placed some navy crystals here and there.
On my next two cards I used a couple of Glimmer Hot Plates,
Bird in Heart and
Oh Happy Day, with some gorgeous
Crimson Stars hot foil. For the banner on the left card I used the
It's Your Day Etched Dies with the same foil. Red is one of my least favorite colors, but if it comes to foil, it's one of my favorites. I have no idea why, but there's just something so elegant about red foil!
First I foiled the designs on white card stock then assembled my cards, using some strips of patterned papers, black card stock and lace trim. I generally feel like my cards are not finished if they only have one layer, so I had to find something to add!
Flowers! Of course flowers ha! There are some tiny flower dies in the
It's Your Day Etched Dies set, so I went ahead and die cut some from a pink/red patterned paper. I glued them in place and to finish them off, I added some Nuvo drops in their middles. A bunch of black crystals and both cards are done.
On my next card I used the sweet
Let's All Party! Etched Dies as well as the
Oh Happy Day Glimmer Hot Foil Plate with
Crimson Stars hot foil.
I die cut an oval shape from patterned paper (again, I used the
Nestabilities Fancy Edged Ovals set) and popped up the negative shape on my card front. I die cut all the animals from different patterned papers. I tried to keep my color scheme neutral because the most birthday cards I need are for my son's friends, all boys!
I die cut the tree and the cake from gold glitter paper to add some sparkle! I foiled a small piece of white card stock and die cut the little hats from it for a fun accent. I tucked some animals behind the oval cut out, some I added directly to the patterned paper panel. I then used the
Oh Happy Day Glimmer Hot Foil Plate to create a foiled sentiment, which I popped up with foam adhesive. Last but not least I added some black enamel dots.
On my last two cards I haven't used foil. First up is my favorite card from today's post! Isn't this little scene the most adorable?! Bunny pulling a cake on a cart with a little girl helping? Oh my goodness! I can't even! This set is called
Sending a Happy Birthday and comes with a lot of small dies. I added a piece of floral patterned paper to my card front, and layered a couple of oval die cut shapes on it.
I then die cut all the little pieces from various patterned papers, assembled them and glued them down using foam tape. A sentiment and a few crystals finish off this card.
Last but not least another simple card I made with the
Happy Wishes Etched Dies set. I die cut this lovely sentiment from patterned paper as well as from heavy weight card stock a few times and stacked them up to create a dimensional focal point. I added a patterned paper panel to my card base and layered some tilted rectangles on top. The two smaller rectangles were die cut using another favorite set of mine, the
Nestabilities Fancy Edged Rectangles Etched Dies. The largest rectangle I just cut using a trimmer.
To finish off this card I added some sequins and twine.
