You Make My Heart Smile
Sending cards for holidays and birthdays are great, but I think the best cards are the unexpected ones! Today's card is perfect for that special person who simply makes your heart happy.
The [hero_product_link sku="DI181" text="Paper Layering Daisy Die"] makes for a stunning focal point! This die includes the Paper Layering die, which is the portion that has the leaves popped up, as well as the outline of the daisy that I used to create the white border around the flower.
I started out by die cutting the outline die from some masking paper and adhered it to some watercolor paper. I also taped the watercolor paper down to a hard surface with painter's tape, which created the white border.
Next, I created a light wash of color using Distress Inks mixed with water. I am in love with this combo of Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio and Peacock Feathers -- they blend effortlessly! Just be careful not to get too much water around the masking paper so it doesn't seep underneath.
After the background was dry, I die cut the Paper Layering portion of the die and colored it with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. The fine tips on these markers make it easy to get in the tiniest of spaces!
Next, I stamped the sentiment from the [hero_product_link sku="CL876" text="Love by Lia"] set with black ink. This is such a great message that is perfect for sending those unexpected cards to those who make your heart happy.
And finally, I mounted the watercolor panel on a [hero_product_link sku="PS688" text="Black Folded Card"], which I think makes the flower really pop. And like all Hero Arts Folded Cards, the inside is white to make it easy for writing a message.
Who makes your heart smile? I encourage you to send them a card and let them know. :)
