Video: Water Marbling Using Liquid Watercolors

Natasha Polite

Hi crafty friends! Natasha Polite joining you today to share a technique that utilizes liquid watercolors to create soft and unique backgrounds.

Join me as I walk you through my process of creating.

Water marbling allows you to add color without doing a lot of work. I used Deluxe Smooth White Cardstock for my card panels. I love the way the liquid watercolors look on the panel. If you'd prefer to use watercolor paper, Hero Arts offers both Black and White Luxe panels.

In a container of water, I added drops of Chartruese, Brights Pink, Brights Purple, and White liquid watercolors. I spaced the drops out to ensure that the colors did not mix and become murky before I could dip my paper. Once I was satisfied with the way the watercolors looked, I carefully placed my paper on top of the water and lifted. I continued dipping my panels WITHOUT adding more watercolor. I was able to acheive different looks on each panel.

I heat set all of the paint until there was no longer a glare on each panel. I set these under my craft mats to dry flat. Once they were dry, I stamped images from the February Clear Stamp + Dies using French Pink and Naples Yellow Glitz inks.

The panel was cut down to 3 3/4 x 5 inches and popped up onto Azalea Cardstock using foam adhesive. For the final touch, I added a few Clear Enamel Dots.

Thank you for joining me on the blog today. I hope I have inspired you to use your liquid watercolors, or even reactive reinkers if you like that look.

Happy Crafting!
