Video: Stencil Layering and Pigment Ink Embossing
Jessica Frost-Ballas
Good morning and happy Monday! Jess here with an encouragement card for our current Stay Crafty with Hero challenge! You can watch the video below or over at our YouTube channel.
First I blended a little Soft Pool ink around the edges of a panel of Strathmore bristol cardstock. Then I placed the Spring Sprigs stencil over the panel and taped it in place. I blended Ocean ink over the bottom of the stencil and blended it out with Soft Pool. I lifted the stencil and repositioned it over the panel at a slight angle. Then I blended Hero Hues Aquamarine pigment ink over the bottom of the panel and blended it out with the two lighter colors. When you lift the stencil you have an interesting texture with the different colors and stencil layers!
Next I stamped the outline and bottom layers of the beautiful Color Layering Betta with Grape Juice and Soft Purple ink. Then I stamped the detail layer with Amethyst pigment ink and heat-embossed it with Sparkle Embossing Powder before die-cutting it with the coordinating dies. Pigment inks stay wet a little longer than dye inks so they can be used for heat-embossing!
I also stamped a sentiment from Color Layering Betta onto Hero Hues Pitch Black cardstock with Embossing and Watermark ink and heat-embossed it with White Embossing Powder before trimming it down to a thin angled label. I trimmed the stenciled panel down to 4" by 5.25" and adhered it to a Hero Hues Dove White Top Folded Card Base and then added the sentiment. Finally I added the betta with a few foam dots for a little extra dimension! I love how the Spring Sprigs stencil works so well as aquarium greenery!
And that's it! Thanks so much for stopping by today and don't forget to enter your cards in the Stay Crafty with Hero challenge and make sure you're sending them out when you're finished! :) Have a fabulous day and happy crafting!

Loved how you arrived at the background. So simple and pretty. Have to get me some of that sparkle embossing powder. It sure had a nice effect on the fish.
