Video: Slimline Card and Spotlight Technique with the August Kit
Hello friends! It's Channin here with a new video and card featuring the August 2020 My Monthly Hero Kit. In today’s video I will create a slimline card and that will provide the perfect canvas for my staycation landscape scene. Plus I will use the spotlight technique to create a focal point, further my narrative, and bonus, minimize the amount of coloring I need to do for this card!
(If you are having trouble viewing this video, please try watching it HERE on YouTube.)
To create this card I first created a slimline card base by trimming a sheet of Pebble cardstock down to 8 1/2” x 7 1/4” and scoring at 3 5/8”. Next, I stamped several images and a sentiment from the kit’s stamp set in Wet Cement on the card front. I then created a couple masks by stamping my images on a full-adhesive post-it note and then fussy cutting the images out. I placed my masks down over my images, and then stamped the rest of my scene.
Next, I stamped my focal image, the reading woman, in INTENS-ified Black Ink onto Dove White cardstock. I Copic colored the image in and then die cut it out as well as two unstamped layers with the matching die and then adhered the layers together. Next, I die cut three “Greetings from” out of Dove White cardstock, then Copic colored a gradation on one, and finally adhered all three layers together.
I finished the card by adhering the stacked die cuts onto the card front.
I hope you enjoyed my card and video! Thank you so much for stopping by!
