Video: Multiple Looks with Color Layering Stencils

Jan 17, 2022 Dana Joy

Hey everyone. It's Dana here with you today and I'm going to show you how to use the new Peonies Bunch stamp set and the Color Layering Peonies Bunch Stencils. Working with these stencils will help you make stunning cards with very little work.

If you are having trouble viewing this video, please try watching it HERE on YouTube.)

To start this card I stamped the peony from the Peonies Bunch stamp set in Intens-ified Black Ink onto Dove White cardstock. Before the ink had a chance to dry, I sprinkled on Clear Embossing Powder and heat set the image.

Next it was time to add color to the peonies. My color palette today is one that is currently on the color guide from Hero Arts.

I used Hero Arts Moss, Pine, Orchid and Mulled Wine inks with the new Color Layering Peonies Bunch Stencil. The stencils have four little squares on the corners of the stencils which really helps you line each stencil up easily. Once the stenciling was complete, I used the coordinating Peonies Bunch Frame Cuts to die cut the peonies. At this point I also die cut out two additional pieces in black cardstock to use later.

Once I stenciled the first flower, I decided to make a background using the leftover ink from each stencil. By using the leftover ink, you can create a softer flower without the black outline of the peonies.

For the sentiment, I used the "hello love" stamp from the Peonies Bunch set and stamped it on black ink on the stenciled card panel. I trimmed down the background panel so I could adhere it to a Pitch Black cardstock panel which fit perfectly onto an A2 card base.

To finish off the card, I adhered the black die cuts to the back of the stenciled peonies we had die cut previously. This gave the flowers a thicker base and a nice black contrast when you look at the card sideways. By laying this die cut piece slightly over the stenciled background, it really gave this card a beautiful look.

I hope you enjoyed yourself here today on the blog. Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you back here soon.

What a breathtaking card. What a great idea to use all that ink that’s on the stencils and not waste it. I like these tips. Thanks for sharing your talents with us.
