Looking for a fun way to add shine and dimension to your stamped designs? Today we’re sharing a sweet technique that transforms simple images into glossy, candy-like accents! In this video, you’ll learn how to use dimensional medium to create eye-catching, “candy-coated” stamped images that really pop on your cards.
Let’s turn it over to Carly for all the details and a step-by-step look at this technique in action!
Hi Crafty Friends! Carly here and I've got a shiny idea to share with you...candy-coated stamped images! It's fun, glossy and not really candy, LOL!
You need a permanent ink (waterproof & alcohol ink friendly) such as Intens-ified Black Ink, dimensional medium that dries glossy & clear, and a cute candy stamp set like Let's Stick Together.
Check out the video to see how this sparkly, squishy, gummy bear card came together.

Step-by-Step instructions
- Start by stamping a bold sentiment like the adorable "have a delicious day" from the You're Golden Stamp Set.
- Stamp candy from the Let's Stick Together Stamp Set scattered around the sentiment. TIP: Heat emboss the images to make it even easier to add glossy medium.
- Color candy as desired. Use markers, watercolors, colored pencils or your favorite coloring medium! I'm using Olo Alcohol Markers for my cute little bears.
- Cover stamped & colored candy with glossy medium and use a tool (like a craft pick or tweezers) to pop any bubbles and "erase" any medium outside the lines.
- Set aside to dry completely.
- Use a white paint pen to add "sparkly" details to the bears. The white on top of the glossy medium is such a fun and unique finishing touch!
A FEW EXTRA TIPS
- For best results, be sure to use a truly waterproof ink so your coloring and glossy medium don’t smear.
- Working in small sections can also help keep the dimensional medium under control.
- Don’t rush the drying time—letting everything fully cure is key to achieving that smooth, glassy finish.
This technique is such a fun way to add personality and dimension to your handmade cards. Whether you’re creating birthday cards, thank you notes, or just something cheerful, these candy-coated details are sure to stand out.
