Video: Color Layering Palm Tree Cards | Color Layering With Yana Series
Yana Smakula
Hello, Hero Arts fans! Welcome back for another episode of the Color Layering video series!
In this video and episode, we are taking a closer look at the Color Layering Palm Tree stamp set.
Watch the video tutorial below to learn how I made the cards I'm sharing today.
If you’re having a problem viewing this video, please try watching it HERE in HD on YouTube.
The palm trees are very easy to align and depending on if you have or don’t have coordinating dies, there are a few ways you can stamp them.
I used Lime Green, Forever Green, Soft Brown and Cup o' Joe inks for my stamping.
Shake Your Palm Palms Card
I white heat embossed a new Leafy Bold Prints background on Peony cardstock, stamped and die cut the palm trees to create a scene for my card. One of the sentiments in this set reads "Shake Your Palm Palms" and this gave me an idea to create shakeable palm trees. I used a mini wobble spring to attach additional leaf layers to my palm trees to make them shake or wobble.
It is an easy trick, yet your cards become interactive and instantly get that wow factor.
Palmtastic Card
For my next card, I ink blended a sunset background using Hero Arts new Reactive Inks and also cloud dies from the Color Layering Sea & Sky set. I used Grape Slush, Thistle, Taffy and Creamsicle ink colors and cloud masks to make this background. I also added a stamped palm tree.
I adhered two little banners around it that read "Thank You" and "Hello There" created using Hot Air Blooms set.
Sending a Bit of Paradise
My last card idea for today features some different color combos. Even though the palm trees are green in nature it doesn’t mean we can’t stamp them in some other color on our cards. I’m a big fan of using different, non-typical color combos for my projects and for this card I picked Tide Pool and Mint Julep to Emerald Green Ombre ink. For this card, I stamped the top view as if you were looking down at the ground from the sky and you’d only see the leaves of the palm trees and not the tree trunks.
To create the top layers for the palm trees I used embossing powder in Brass. I love this trick, instead of using a darker color of ink I just heat emboss the top layer in a beautiful color of embossing powder.
Have fun stamping!
