Video: Color Layering Betta Fish 3 Ways | Color Layering With Yana Series
Hello, Hero Arts fans! Welcome back for another episode of the Color Layering video series!
In this video and episode, we are taking a closer look at the Color Layering Betta Fish stamp set.
Watch the video tutorial below to learn how I made the cards I'm sharing today.
If you’re having a problem viewing this video, please try watching it HERE in HD on YouTube.
Color Layering Betta Fish features 3 fish layers, an outline, an almost solid layer, and a detail layer. There are also several sentiments to chose from - I love when there are fun coordinating sentiments included with these layering sets. There’s also an image of air bubbles and seagrass to help you create a scene.
These types of images are easiest to align when you stamp the outline first. I used a MISTI stamping tool to do my stamping and the following colors of ink:
- Intensified Black for the outline
- Soft Pool, Soft Sky and Soft Pink for the solid layer
- Mint Julep to Emerald Green Ombre, Pool to Navy Ombre and Ultra Pink for the detail layer.
There's Nobody Betta Than You Card
All 3 of the cards I'm sharing today feature a very simple design. For my first card, I white heat embossed Bubbles Bold Prints background on Paradise cardstock. Before embossing I masked 1/4" off the edges of the panel to create the illusion of another layer. I also ink blended Tide Pool and Antigua ink to darken the edges. The sentiment was heat embossed on Kiwi cardstock. All elements were adhered using foam adhesive or glue.
Swim In Your Own Direction Card
For my second card, I created a color-blocked background using Reactive Inks. I used Splash, Key Lime, and Pool Party. I stamped the sentiment and air bubbles in black ink, added the fish on top using foam adhesive.
Next, I colored some of the air bubbles white, added lacquer using Lacquer Pen and sequins from the Champagne Sequin Mix.
You're My Betta Half Card
My last card for today uses Abstract Waves Bold Prints background heat embossed in white on Peony cardstock. I added the pink color layering fish, seagrass colored in pink and air bubbles.
Have fun stamping!

Cute cards! I love the details you added to the backgrounds which really make the fish stand out and look great!! Thanks for sharing your video.
I didn’t think I would use a stamp like this but loved the cards that Yana made with it. You go, girl! Thanks for once again showing a lovely card from a simple stamp.
Great use of colors
