Video: Adding Dimension To One Layer Cards With Coloring

Jan 23, 2017 Hero Arts Info

Hello there, I am really excited to be sharing my first project over here on the Hero Arts blog. Today I am focussing on one layer cards. One layer cards can often seem boring but there are plenty of ways to make them more exciting!

I have decided to make shaped cards today. I think shaped cards make one layer cards a bit more exciting than standard A2 sized ones. I have folded white cardstock into a square and then ran this through my die cutting machine using the Circle Infinity Dies. I then chopped a little off the bottom so that they stand up straight. This is a quick and easy way to make a shaped card.

I inked up the lily from the Marianne’s Flowers Stamp Set using Intense Black Ink and stamped it slightly off of the side of the card base. I stamped the sentiment, from the Many Everyday Messages Set above. The image was then coloured using Copic Markers. I also made sure to colour around the image to add more dimension and create interest.

Since I had so much fun creating the first card, I decided to create a second using the same design but this time, using the rose image from the set, along with a different sentiment; again from the Many Everyday Messages Set.

You can see the video of how I made the cards here:

As you can see, you can add a lot of dimension to one layer cards with colouring. This keeps the card flat which is great for mailing. Thank you for visiting us today, I hope you have a great day!
