Two-for-One Nesting Hearts Cards: January 2025 Card Kit
Hero Arts
Hello! Anna here and I am sharing a two-for-one technique using the Nesting Hearts Cover Die from the Hero Studio January 2025 Card Kit of the Month.
First, I removed every other die from the Nesting Hearts die set. Then I taped the hearts and the cover die together using washi tape and die-cut them out of light pink cardstock. Next, I separated them into two sets to make two cards.
For my first card, I used the set of hearts pictured on the right. I ink-blended the hearts with Berry Smoothie and Taffy Reactive Inks. The Berry Smoothie Ink is from the Floral Palette Reactive Ink Cubes and the Taffy Ink is from the Sunshine Palette Reactive Ink Cubes. Then I added some shine using Shimmer Spray.
Next, I die cut a piece of white cardstock using the largest heart die. I mounted the typewritten words heart stamp on an acrylic block and stamped it repeatedly using a combination of Berry Smoothie and Taffy Reactive Inks. I gave it a light spritz of water before stamping to give it a watercolor effect.
For the background of the card, I splattered some watered-down Berry Smoothie and Taffy Reactive Inks. I also sprayed on Shimmer Spray for added sparkle.
Next, I took the largest heart die and die-cut it out of vellum. Then, I adhered the two nesting hearts on top of the vellum die-cut before adding the stamped background heart.
To assemble the card, I first added foam tape at the back of the hearts. Then I adhered it to the middle of the ink splattered background panel which I had cut down to 5.25"x4". I also swiped the edges with the Taffy Reactive Ink to make it stand out a little against the all-white 5.5"x4.25" card base. Next, I added the sentiment "Thinking of You" , which was heat-embossed using White Embossing Powder on black cardstock.
For my second card, I used the cover plate die cut and the rest of the Nesting Hearts. I used the Berry Smoothie and Taffy Reactive Ink to ink-blend the heart cover panel and the Nesting Hearts. Then spritzed it with Shimmer Spray. This time I stamped the typewritten words heart stamp directly on a piece of 5.5"x4.25" white cardstock for the background.
Then I added a vellum panel to the back of the die-cut heart cover plate and adhered the rest of the Nesting Hearts on top. I also added foam tape to the back of the panel and at the back of the nesting hearts before adhering it on the stamped background.
To finish off the card I added the sentiment "I love you", which is heat-embossed with White Embossing Powder on black cardstock.
I hope you are inspired to give this technique a try!
Have a wonderful crafty day!
