Thanks For Being You
I’m always looking for new ways to enhance a simple card design–something to add that “wow factor”! Whether it be with embossing, an embellishment or perhaps a different type of paper, you can take the most basic card layout and turn it into something amazing. For today’s card, that “wow factor” is the gorgeous Decorative Vellum Woodgrain paper that I used for my background panel.
I trimmed a piece of the woodgrain vellum just slightly smaller than a standard sized card and used Distress Inks to blend the colored background. Then I die-cut the vellum with the Heart Confetti Fancy Die.
Tip: Save all the little hearts leftover from die cutting the background and stuff them inside the card or envelope for a fun surprise!
Next I mounted the vellum to a Snow Folded Card. As you can see in the photo below, the vellum isn’t adhered flat on the card base. I only put adhesive in the center area where the sentiment was going, so the edges could stay loose and create some dimension and shadows.
Finally, I black heat embossed the Thanks For Being You message and popped it up in the center of the card.
Do you have any tips or tricks for giving your cards that “wow factor”? I’d love to hear them!
Checking out the Distress inks range, I’d say that the colours used here are probably Cracked Pistachio and Squeezed Lemonade. A really nice combination; works very well as a background. Great simple card and could be adapted with various different dies for other occasions.
Wished u would list the colors of ink u use I love this combination, I would probably change the wording or add prayers or something in that order.
