Summer Bouquet by the Sea
Mindy Eggen
Hello and welcome friends! It's Mindy with you today to share a card I created pairing the Summer Bouquet with a refreshing beach scene. Let's take a look!
The Summer Bouquet set is perfect for a bit of light coloring and offers plenty of creative options. You can color the entire image and add it directly to your project, or color the bouquet separately, die cut it, and layer it on top for beautiful dimension.
To create the card, I stamped the images in Intens-ified Black ink and colored in with OLO Markers. The colors I used are
- SKIN: OR7.4, OR7.2, OR7.1
- DRESS/SHOES: B2.0, B0.2
- BOUQUET: BV2.2, BV2.3, R5.3, YG1.6, YG1.4
Then I trimmed out the full image and also the bouquet so I could layer the bouquet over the top with foam squares.
This image is beautiful on its own, but I thought it would be fun to pair it with a stenciled background. I used the Color Layering Harbor Stencils, opting to skip the boats on the final layer. This creates a light, airy scene that feels refreshing and serene—perfect for a summery, beachy vibe.
The colors I used to blend the scene are
- SKY: Summer Sky
- WATER: Paradise
- BEACH: Fawn
I used the same colors for both the sky and the water on each stencil layer, but varied the pressure with my blending brush to create a darker shade.
I trimmed the stenciled background using the Nested Rectangle Infinity Dies and layered the image on top with foam squares for dimension. Then, I adhered the entire panel to an A2 card front using foam tape, leaving a crisp white border to frame the whole scene. The sentiment is also from the Summer Bouquet set which is stamped in Black and cut out with the coordinating die.
And there you have it—a bright and airy card that pairs the delicate blooms of the Summer Bouquet with a breezy, layered beach scene. I love how the stenciled sky and water add depth, while the popped-up bouquet gives the card a playful, dimensional touch. This card really captures that light, refreshing summer feeling, and I hope it inspires you to try layering, stenciling, and creative coloring in your own projects. Thanks so much for spending time with me today—I can’t wait to see the beautiful cards you’ll bring to life!
